One of the reasons I stopped following what Michio Kaku has to say is because he is a grandstander.
He likes to push "What IFs" as if they are factual.
Very misleading.
He is fairly effective at getting the public interested in science tho.

I find Neil deGrasse Tyson is the better grandstander because he doesn't push the "What IFs" as strongly. He uses actual science to interest the public.
His style is similar to Dr Carl Sagan.

Science is amazing on its own if you know what to look at.
It doesn't need a lot of "What IFs" to make it so.

www.sciencealert.com is a website.
New Scientist is a website.
It is there to generate income from people clicking or buying its advertisements.

MIT, NASA, the ESA and other sites like that are based on real scientists doing real science.
Always consider the source.

I won't even get into those 'custom' youtube videos.

Abstract

Since the early history of Space Exploration, Mars conquest has been the most important target. After Apollo mission's Moon landing, several concepts and projects, concerning a mission on the Red Planet, were developed. One of the most important contributes was given by Buzz Aldrin, who theorized the use of particular kind of orbits, called cycler orbits, as baseline for an enduring Mars colonization.

A cycler orbit is a kind of orbit which repeats every integer multiple of synodic period and which encounters two bodies with a precise schedule. In the case, the bodies considered are Earth and Mars. It is possible to inject a space station in the cycler orbit which allows a continuous transfer of a crew from Low Earth Orbit to Mars Low Orbit and vice-versa. Small taxi vehicles are used to rendezvous the cycler station from the two bodies, significantly reducing the amount of propellant.

In this paper a mission architecture based on this new concept was analysed, in order to develop an alternative mission profile compared to the actual architectures proposed for human missions. The work starts with an analysis of several classes of cycler. Through a trade-off analysis an unique class of cycler was identified as baseline for a further mission analysis. The mission analysis consists of an evaluation of orbital perturbation, the computation of ΔV required for injection and rendezvous manoeuvres and an identification of close approach windows of the cycler with the two planets, allowing an evaluation of mission duration.

Eventually, the presented mission concept was compared with more classical concepts, focusing on a key figure to enable Mars colonization, sustainability.

Finally the proposed architecture should be seen as a preliminary assessment of an alternative solution to the currently proposed enabling architectures for the Martian exploration.

If you're interested in that stuff look up Panspermia.
Its not rocks its the components that make up DNA and life forming chemicals.
Its suspected that those life materials are abundant in the Universe, in ever star system and random chance is what brings them together to form life.

Then there's the idea that all bodies in the solar system contain the ingredients of life and only when they combine in a Goldilocks zone environment do they actually form life.

This would mean that the elements for life exist on the Moon, Mars, Venus, and every other place we might decide to go. That if placed into a suitable habitat, will spontaneously generate life. I believe there is much more to the equation than environment. Most notably, time (about a billion years or so).
I think of it like a stew in a slow cooker, a very slow cooker.

Similar to Admiral Bird's 'amazing' tales of polar portals and a hollow earth, we should be able to hollow sealed chambers inside the moon, giving external radiation protection, and holding air and water reserves. Use some lighting system for growing plants. Build a propulsion system, and set off across the flat space, wary of sirens, mermaids, and falling off the edge. Or falling into a hole.

SPACE is an ARTIST CONCEPT and NASA is a FRAUD.

Meanwhile, back in reality . . .

What would be the point of people living on Mars?

It will never happen!!

Look at the average member of Science. A person totally unresponsive of being an active member to society. A person whose mind roams mindlessly on things that are imaginary. A person who forms concepts based upon their own delusions due to a form of Autism and other Psychological Disorders. A person who is completely lost touch with reality.

If you removed Mathematics and what we can do by using triangles, geometric symbols, formulas, equations, a Scientist would be completely lost.

If you take a calculator and just play around with it you will come up with some interesting results. These results are not factually sound, but they could give someone an idea of how the result can be used. This is very much like science,

Example:
When I was a child we had around 7 known dinosaurs. As I became a young adult, we had broken those down to sub-Species of the original dinosaur. Today, they are presenting creatures through animation that look nothing like what my 7 dinosaurs did, but today's scientist claim these pre-existing dinosaurs were the Species before my dinosaurs.

What I have concluded about Science since I do live in the Mathematical World, all I need is to have some form of mental deformity, the ability to not be able to relate to the real world, no ability to format logical reasoning, and then allow my genetically impaired mind to roam, and just like a horrible trip on acid, I could easily possess these same mythical images that today's Science proposes.

But the real kicker here for me is, we have certifiably sane people following the direction of the insane and they all wonder why their life is in such the hole as it is. Who allowed and gave permission to these mental midgets to act and pretend to be the problem solvers of society? For every one Theory that works, 100 fail at the cost of our own lives (chemistry - medications). Some of these buffoons are those who stare off into the corner and have no interaction with humanity at all, and we are letting them be our reasoning?

This world deserves to die for following the advice and direction of the mentally ill!!

Why should we relocate to a new planet under the guidance and direction of fools who cannot fix our current planet? On a new planet, these literal RETARDS will bring DOOM like they have already here to whatever society and Species are left!!

I was wondering what happened on the proposal on having a mag shield around Mars.

Billions of years ago, Mars may have looked like modern day earth
with Magnetic field, a warm atmosphere, and oceans with water as much as our Arctic Ocean

Dude, Mars has been soaked in cosmic radiation for what has been estimated to be 4 billion years. We're talking seriously long term half life of some of the forms of radiations, just one form has 1.6 million year half life.

A mag shield I didn't really even bother reading up on as the resources and energy to create a magnetic field the size of a planet couldn't be feasible IMHO.

When you look at chernobyl its about 22 thousand years before people could safely live there and not have the problems from it so when you think about mars even if we could get something to stop the radiation now as I am typing how long are we thinking before things could even think about growing and living there best guess is probs a few 100 million if not billion years and as far as I'm aware, don't get me wrong it could be happening but I don't think we got it sorted for mars at the min.

Not really. According to the Scientist performing the Pew Research Poll, Scientists fall into 2 categories.

(1) Believers in a PERSONAL GOD

The Pew Research Center poll of scientists also found that levels of religious faith vary according to scientific specialty and age. For instance, chemists are more likely to believe in God (41%) than those who work in the other major scientific fields. Meanwhile, younger scientists (ages 18-34) are more likely to believe in God or a higher power than those who are older.

According to the poll, just over half of scientists (51%) believe in some form of deity or higher power
.

(2) Suffering from Mental Illness

COLLECTION | 30 APRIL 2018

Science careers and mental health
Science’s hyper-competitive environment and its ‘publish or perish’ culture can breed anxiety and depression. Nature's latest global graduate survey, published in October 2017, showed 31% of all respondents had sought help for anxiety or depression. And an international study of scientists published in Nature Biotechnology in March 2018 provided compelling evidence of a mental health crisis in depression with nearly 40% of respondents showing signs of moderate to severe depression. Parallels can be drawn to connect creativity to major mental disorders including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, and ADHD. For example, studies[3] have demonstrated correlations between creative occupations like science and people living with mental illness.
.

That rather explains in great detail that 51% of scientists believe in a Personal God vs 40% confirm scientists suffer from some form of mental disorder.

People who suffer from mental disorders are generally unable to believe in a power higher than themselves.[7]

^
If that last sentence is correct, that means according to what I am posting, that 51% of Scientists believe in God + 40% of the Atheist Scientists suffer from some form of Mental Disorder = 91% of all Scientists!!

^
If that is correct, it means the ones discussing relocating to Mars are the ones who are Mentally Ill!!

Like I said already, You are listening to mental midgets and being fooled by them!!

It's difficult to take anyone serious, who is obviously fooled by the Mentally Ill!!

And it would appear, many who follow Science but are not a part of Science, are being fooled by those within Science who are legally diagnosed with a Mental Disorder!!

Do you know how FUNNY THAT IS FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha talk about PRICELESS!!

Interesting observation.
Consider that nuclear radiation is not cosmic radiation.
The Earth gets a small amount of cosmic radiation all the time, like for 4.5 billion years.
While the radiation discussion is interesting it is not the actual focus of this thread.
This thread is focused (intended) on staging materials off-world as a resource for future manned expeditions.

Its like building a house;
You buy the materials you need
have them delivered to the site
then use those materials to build the house.
Once its built, you move in.

If we might want to build a facility on the Moon, we should send presupply missions to drop materials we will need at the site.
No presupply missions are being done for any facility creation.
What are we waiting for?

Imagine we had a company with launch ability.
We contract to lift and deliver a series of presupply missions for the ESA or NASA.
Over the next 10 years, we deliver massive amounts of the materials needed by the 'entity' planning a facility.
If you are the only company doing this, you're gunna make billions of bucks over that 10 years.
Every presupply mission allows you to learn more about space industry.
All that enlightenment is paid for by the entity in contract with you.

51% of Scientists believe in God + 40% of the Atheist Scientists suffer from some form of Mental Disorder = 91% of all Scientists!!

Your assumption is off, your math is wrong.
If 51 percent of all scientists believe in God,
49 percent is the atheist scientists.
If 40 percent of the atheist scientist suffer from some form of mental disorder it is 40 percent of 49 percent.
That is 40% of 49 and means 19.6 percent of scientists suffer from some form of mental disorder.
Using you assumption, 51 plus 19.6 means 70.6 percent of all scientists.

People who suffer from mental disorders are generally unable to believe in a power higher than themselves.

Not necessarily.
Ever heard of sociopaths?
Ever read about a serial killer that gets instructions from God?
Most people suffering from delusions or phobias very much believe in something greater than themselves.

To attempt to classify all scientists as mentally ill, indicates you are assuming.
If science is so bad, you forget the device you use to read and write in this thread is made available by insane scientists.
Your entire existence is because of the science being used to make it.
From the car you drive to the food you eat.
From the medicine you take to the home you live in.
You are trying to say insanity created the world we live in?

The very fact that you posted what you did indicates your need to validate your own assumptions.
That, is funny to me.

Richard Dawkins is all over the place:

Pew Research did a study on the Mental Illness of Atheist and Non-Believers in God vs Believers in God:

The Results:

Much research indicates that religious people as a group tend to have better mental health than the ‘nones’ as a group. This is manifest in various indicators, including lower rates of depression, anxiety, suicide, self-harm, and substance use among the religious.

Richard Dawkins himself has joked about atheists possibly being ‘despairing neurotics driven to suicide by relentless cosmic angst’ because they lack the emotional and psychological consolations of religion.

Why is Richard Dawkins so important to your belief system?
Why is PEW Research so important to your belief system?

This thread is actually intended to discuss extra-planetary supply staging missions and why it is not being done?

In my life I have personally met some real scientists and they are stable and of sound mind.
Sure, some might be insane or loopy.
You attempt to group all scientists under one prejudicial label.

He is not, but if you keep an eye on science, he finds ways to connect his idealisms to it.

Why is PEW Research so important to your belief system?

I enjoy that it is a group of scientists basically doing the questioning and polling.

This thread is actually intended to discuss extra-planetary supply staging missions and why it is not being done?

we need better technology for that accomplishment. In this situation, we need people with IQ's brighter than 160 on average.

In my life I have personally met some real scientists and they are stable and of sound mind.

Indeed, so is my zoologist friend. I know people who should be legally certifiable in all walks of life. Don't believe I am fooled that because a poll claims Believers are mentally sound on average compared to non-Believers on average. I've seen some people under the utilege of Belief System, who should have just been shot point blank so they could never pass on their genetics.

Sure, some might be insane or loopy.

on both sides of that coin.

You attempt to group all scientists under one prejudicial label.

I actually have them in 3 categories
(1) those I like
(2) those I disagree with
(3) those who can only relate to the real world through Mathematics

Then you try to argue your point, seems a bit narcissistic to me?

That however is not giving away the fact that I am taking away from yours and others responses. They are all valid points. And sometimes, if I do it right, I keep the topic going and am able to see more viewpoints.

I am tired of reading books. Here on this forum, we get to read minds
!!

What does extra-planetary supply staging missions have to do with religion?

In a sense, the only way to completely be able to accomplish this task to move, store, and then build community structures safe enough for the Human Species is to first, send A.I.'s. And that does coincide with Book of Revelations and Enoch. But that is what they want to do next with a moon landing. This is simply training for planet to planet. All foretold.

As much fun as this is, and there are many comebacks, the sad fact is you are way off base from the intent of the thread.

Might I suggest a thread of your own that focuses on the insanity of science?
Might I suggest a thread of your own that focuses on Richard Dawkins?

The fact that you avoid the actual topic of this thread tells me a lot about how your mind works.
Not saying there is anything wrong with how your mind works, just it is different than the way mine does.

There is a certain acceptance one gains when they impose no expectations on others.
You do not need to fulfil my expectations because I have none concerning you.
Yer good dude.

I have nothing to prove, no ego needing pumped.
I don't freaking care.
I will die and nothing anyone can do will stop it.
Do you really think I give a damn what you think?
How is that going to affect how I end my days?
LOL, talk about delusions of grandure.

You have put so much effort into my responses it just seems a waste when considering the topic at hand.
We worry about this or that but never actually offer any solutions only complaints.
Its like humans have a snooze button that is constantly pressed.
Maybe the things I talk about are too far fetched, maybe someone someday will read this insignificant attestment and say oh wow.
Maybe they won't.
I don't care..all I know is I wrote it and what the future does with it is their destiny.

I don't care how your religion fits with what I say.
I don't care if you agree with what I say.
I said it.
