I personally know that racism is still very much a problem in South Africa. It may not make the news as regularly as 30 years ago, but that does not mean it is gone.

I have known people from South Africa. White people from South Africa. And some of the things I heard them say about black people...

Instant turn-off. Both were attractive women. But once I heard their racial views, I lost all interest in those ladies.

...people will always have preferences in ho they hire, who they date, who they associate with, who they educate. I think if those preferences are based around individual character or behavior or experience, that is one thing. I think if they are based around what ancestry one had, it is a racist preference. I think if they are based around what nation one is from, it is a nationalist preference. I believe if it is based around gender, it is a sexist preference.

Those are just definitions....

I believe South Africa has many races just like Nigeria has many tribes. In Nigeria, a person's preference for a particular tribe against all others could make that person a tribalist.

Interestingly, going by definiton, my current preference for a light skinned woman of whatever tribe or race should make me a sexist and a SKINIST???

SKINIST???

Come to think of it, a person whose preference is for a light skinned woman of any race should be called a COLORIST!

if preference only implies preference and not mandate, it is a skinist preference that is not bigoted. If it implies a mandate that only a certain skin color can qualify, it is a skinist MANDATE which is bigoted.

Y'all crack me up
laugh

I don't date outside my species.
I am a Humanist.

I see people as people.
Everyone has their own method of living life.
I have my own method of living life.
I choose partners based on if how they live their life aligns with how I live my life.

Everybody bleeds if they get cut.
Everybody poops and everybody dies.

You all heard now. A skinist or colorist who always loved them dark but now desires a light skinned beauty is not a bigot.

So where are them girls?

Lay some skin on me ! I don't care what colour.
I am a humanist, but if any sexy female aliens are interested, maybe I might stray.

G`day.

Seeing how Glen was from South Africa, perhaps he felt that race preference
was reminiscent of the days of "Apartheid" that was the political and social system of that country. { WikiLeaks: 1948-27 April, 1994 }

People are always going to have "preferences" on what type of person that they would like to meet, especially if they are trying to find a life partner or soul-mate, mate.{Australia}
I would not say that this is being racist.

Cheers,
Richard.

Racism did not only happen in South Africa or in Africa only, it happened still is happening everywhere. Whether we are progressing from it is still a debate but in my country saying a racist statement gets you in jail🤞

This is true ...

Racism did not only happen in South Africa or in Africa only, it happened still is happening everywhere.

and America has shown its bad side now for a long time ... but with not only African Americans... you are not the minority anymore ... maybe for those in our jail system... but just as many other races also ...

I don't think of my self as racist ... but I think I can be at times ... only if I do not like what someone else has done ... whether that comes from another culture to ...

so I guess I can be racist ...know matter what color skin you have ...

but most in these forums ... are cool ... or I would not use them ... some have great ideas ... and they are very colorful laugh it also falls back on preference...

and this makes me wonder ...in the only black dating sites they have ... is racist

brought up in there sites ... I don't know...

it is certainly true that Blacks have never been the only minority in America, there are natives, asians, and hawaiians. however, our systems have historically had infrastructures that specifically applied to oppressing or excluding or exploiting blacks.

I have said since I came here that racism has many shapes and forms and levels. For me, breaking down the word semantically, racist can be ANYTHING that is defined at the root specifically by RACE alone. I also believe that not all racism is bad or equal.

If something is racist in order to make a correction to something that was missing or in order to unite something that was divided in harmful ways, I think it is good. For instance, if a minority has been excluded from institutions to the point when the larger community has oppressed them from doing so, I dont see a problem with it. If a majority continues to exclude a minority to keep them in a lower status, by only uplifting themselves, I feel that is a problem, UNLESS, that excluded minority does have the option to decide to help THEMSELF exclusively as well.

Dating sites have all types of 'isms' because people have many different things in common that they may want to find in other people. I have belonged to black dating sites, because I like black people. I have belonged to interracial dating sites, because I like other types of people too. I ALSO have belonged to movie dating sites because I like go to movies. I have belonged to musician sites because I like musicians. All these types of sites do is narrow down ONE small description on the list of those that interest people and there are so many t hat there is a site for just about everything on that list a person could want.

If something is racist in order to oppress, continue to oppress, or facilitate the exclusion of people that harms them somehow, it is bad.
