Astro City is the only comic I have seen that tries to address the difficulties that surround a world with Super Heros / Super Villians. For instance, how does a Super Villian who is made out of shiny metal, retire and become a normal citizen after being caught and sent to prison? How does a Super Hero, who was once a Librarian, deal with dating a beautiful female Super Hero. There is a lot of action, but the primary focus is people.

i think watchmen did a fair job of dicscussing super heros in realistic terms
but then allen moores comics r far more advanced than almost everything out there not by him

I would really love to see how that would have worked, had Moore been allowed to use the Charlton characters in Watchmen, which DC had recently acquired, instead of creating new characters who were just thinly-disguised versions of their Charlton counterparts.

i think his characters r better than the charlton characters, that may just be because he made them though lol
However if he had been allowed to use the charlton characters then he might have had access to other parts of the dcu! imagine allen moore tackling a superman story! thats y they wouldnt let him use their people, because it would have been 2 close to letting him tear apart apart comic book legends one panel at a time! (in a VERY good way)

Moore has dome some Superman stuff -- there was a 2-parter called "What Ever happened to the Man of Steel?" that ran in Action 583 and Superman 423 -- later collected into a very thin TPB -- DC Comics presents 85 (Superman - Swamp Thing teamup) -- I'm sure I'm missing some others....

Really was that part of that whole "access crossover" thing about a decade ago?
I assume galactus won, as he has defeated thanos b4, who is very similar 2 darkseid

Been awhile since I read it, but I recall Galactus wanted to absorb all the energies of Apokolips (naturally) and it ended up that he was unable to do so -- I think Darkseid found a way to cloak the planet or something --

From the Overstreet:

Darkseid Vs. Galactus: The Hunger 1995 $4.95 0ne-shot

While I enjoyed Civil War and Infinite Crisis, I wish Marvel and DC would scale back on their company-wide mega-events. The more there are, the less special they become.

Thankfully, that's my only negative.

Right now, both DC and Marvel are coming out with some of the best stuff I've seen in ages. Booster Gold and Jonah Hex from DC, and with World War Hulk, I'm actually excited about the character again.

Kudos also to Marvel and DC for their very affordable and entertaining Essentials and Showcases.

Finally, from a guy who grew up during the heyday of Harvey Comics, many thanks to Dark Horse Comics for releasing the Harvey Comics Classics line. Sort of like Showcase/Essentials, but much better paper, more text features, and some of it in color, all for only $19.95. Not much to pay for great childhood memories. I just wonder when they're coming out with a volume dedicated to my all-time favorite character, Sad Sack.
