China is now the largest owner of Australia's waters !

Others like US and Japan also own a bulk of Aussie waters

The difference is with China, it is the Chinese Government powered by its military assets that owns Australian W. For example in case of Japan, it is Sumitomo and in case of dispute - matter goes to court.

Meanwhile Australian farmers pay huge amounts annually for water supply.

Yes unfortunately we have an abundance of greedy traitors in australia, not realizing what they are doing to our security; or maybe they do.
China communists seem happy to buy stolen property from criminals wherever they can.
They don't value local traditional cultural sites either.
Now they are behaving aggressively toward australia corporation, for promoting investigation into covid-19 development and propagation.
What do they have to hide, I wonder.

Simple, because the west has a hunger for cheap :poop:

Well apparently Joe Biden has a revelotionary new idea to bring manufacturing back to the United States, or maybe he is just having another of his flashbacks? Either way I'm sure the Democrates would love nothing more than to give every perk back to China if they are elected.

A few days ago, Fox News aired ...

Hong Kong scientist Dr. Li-Meng Yan believes the Chinese government knew about the novel coronavirus well before it claimed it did ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUbrE1v4kuQ

The first 2 minutes of the 5 minute talk hosted by Tucker is revealing & sufficient. Since other news channels refused to pick it up a newly created channel 'Zooming In' run by Chinese (in US presumably) aired some in depth materials under the caption: "The Cover up of the Century"

Since that's an hour long video I suggest a follow up to Tucker's video

Huawei end game or... start of a new game!!

From The Economist:

On may 15th the American government announced a startling escalation in its campaign against Huawei, a Chinese company which is the largest provider of telecoms equipment in the world. American politicians and officials have long expressed concerns that mobile networks which rely on Huawei could allow snooping and sabotage by China.

First some balderdash:

In May 2019, citing alleged violations of sanctions against Iran—charges Huawei denies—America used powers designed to stop transfer of (military?) technology to bar the company from receiving American components vital to the systems it sells.

Now the stupidity of Politicians who don't realize businesses exist on loopholes

Those measures had loopholes: suppliers could keep on selling Huawei many components as long as they were made in facilities outside America. So this year America targeted the whole supply chain: as of September it will be seeking to stop companies around the world from using software or hardware that originally comes from America to manufacture components based on Huawei’s designs.

So little, so late. Reason I say this is Chinese firms have been given a heads up and now will be seeking to buy out these overseas component manufacturers.

Faced with no alternative these firms (mainly in Asia - was some software development in India also; (damn)) can / may / will sell stake / shift plant to China / ship software easily.

... --- ... -- 16 May ...--- 9 June ...--- .. 19 July
Total cases 4.7 mil ... 7.2 million ...--- 14.4 million
...........................................(Double!!)

Total death 0.31 million... 0.4 million ... 0.6 million

Infection has doubled / Death rate, doubled

US - 3 million / 140,000 death.... slower rise but not flattening
Br - 2 million / .78,000 ..........flattening - surprisingly
In - 1 million / .26,000 ..........rising
PCM- 1 million / .57,000 ...... Peru, Chile, Mexico - South America's Hotting Cluster
---

At the above said rates in US / Br / In / PCM
it's a reasonable estimate that by mid August
Total cases would be around 20 million / 1 million death

Projections may sound like one of those macabre games

or a new kind of world war, concealed under virus that's slow & steady.

i.e., People driven to suicide by viral infections due to political incompetency in democracies.

3 million cases in the United States is only 1% of the population, I'm sure the number is more like 2.5%-3% due to low testing levels and some people not showing symptoms. 3 million people die in the US every year and many of these people that have died would have been dead in less than a year anyway, and many would have been dead with in a few years. It will be a couple years before we can figure the real number on the over all effect to see how big the spike of deaths really is. Humans are very selfish creatures, if grandma was going to die but the family was told they could keep her alive for 2 more months if they could come up with $200,000 most families would say sorry grandma we can't do it even if they could. However if the doctor said wait a minute what if we could get that money from the insurance company? Then of coarse they would say yes, keep her alive even though she will just be a vegetable laying in a bed. What they don't think of is little Jose who's parents can not afford insurance because of the greed of others and does not get his disease diagnosed and ends up dying and loses 70 years of his life because the greed of the family that wanted grandmas corpse lay there for 2 more months. These "Expert's" telling us all about covid have how many years of experience dealing with SARS and Corona? An "Expert" should have at least 10 to 20 years experience, these people are just making things up as they go along. Do they have a bunch of rats running around with masks in a lab somewhere? They should be doing a blind survey of everyone being tested to find out where these people have been, how many they have been around, and how often they wear a mask, and then compare these numbers for positive vs negative test results to find out what factors affect the out come the most. They could also make everyone carry around a teddy bear, because a big part of wearing masks is the "sense" of security that people get from it. However this can do as much, if not more harm because people will take more risks because of this sense of security. As far as China goes we knew of this problem over 20 years ago and there are far too many people that believe the world economy is such a great thing for everyone, even though its only good for a few and many places become worse off because of it. China has stole much of technology they have and now they are using it against others. China used to push their wears thru places like Wal-Mart. Then Amazon became the biggest player. And now with the covid lock down they have actually started pushing their products dirrect cutting out the middle man. They have huge warehouses in the US and are collecting the payments for products directly only paying for the shipping and maybe a kick back to Amazon, EBay, or similar taking even more money out of the US economy as they work toward their world domination. And their government is treating their people like rocketman from North Korea does, locking them up, or killing them for speaking out about their country. You said the US debt to China is $1.1trillion, that number seems extremely low being we are spending at least $3trillion on covid, we just keep printing money like its no big deal, and yes that will catch up with us eventually. The reason people in the US are still concerned about the politics is that Trump is the only one addressing the issues with China, even if not all that well. While the Democrates want to give China everything they want, perhaps because the love socialism and see this as a way to get it in the United States. The communities have to be responsible for handling the covid outbreak, not the federal government. What is good for one area does not always affect another. Many people have seen this as a "cry wolf" senerio when the 1% or 3% of the population that have been affected are no where near their area, and the governments locking down areas where there is little to no risk has made these people very mad about the government control, not to mention the economic impact it has had in places where it didn't have to. People have very short attention spans and by pushing all this on the people before it was necessary has made it so people just want to move on with their lives. You are only young once and taking away someone childhood to allow an old person to live a few more months is not fair. When you go to Disney world when you are 5 its magical, when you go at 35 its frustrating and expensive. So many children have missed out on school, prom, graduation, birthday parties, many other parts of their childhood in areas that where not high in risk. They will never get that back. Many poor communitues both in the cities, but also rural, have kids that depend on school for getting feed right, and their parents rely on the schools to watch their kids while they work. The federal and state governments have stuck their noses where they don't belong, its about time to give the country and control back to the people it belongs to.

Quite a write Dust4fun.

I thought it worthwhile to break to paragraphs so that we can follow each of the points in this breathless flow (if you don't mind).

Disclaimer: Does not mean I agree with your views but in the absence of any other rationalizations willing to keep an open mind.

What they don't think of is little Jose who's parents can not afford insurance because of the greed of others and does not get his disease diagnosed and ends up dying and loses 70 years of his life because the greed of the family that wanted grandmas corpse lay there for 2 more months.

Circular argument: Grandma's life could be extended by 2 months for $250,000 but if it is extended, Grandma would be in vegetative state!

non sequitur Alternatively, little Jose dies because (greed / grandma's insurance) resources were diverted for Grandma's existence.

These "Expert's" telling us all about covid have how many years of experience dealing with SARS and Corona? An "Expert" should have at least 10 to 20 years experience, these people are just making things up as they go along.

Do they have a bunch of rats running around with masks in a lab somewhere? World Economy As far as China goes we knew of this problem over 20 years ago and there are far too many people that believe the world economy is such a great thing for everyone, even though its only good for a few and many places become worse off because of it.

China did not steal CCP's terms for doing business in China to America Inc is: You share the technology as part of installation. America Inc. obliged for two reasons. 1. They did not expect Chinese engineers to develop the tech to next level - Huawei is great example
2. Under the belief that if America Inc. did not oblige then the European competition was waiting to do so. For instance South Korea's industrial rise is in part due from UK selling out high tech companies to them. A great example is Wilcox & Babcock (power plant boilers) sold out to Doosan Heavy Industries.

Rocketman: And their government is treating their people like rocketman from North Korea does, locking them up, or killing them for speaking out about their country.

DebtYou said the US debt to China is $1.1 trillion, that number seems extremely low being we are spending at least $3 trillion on covid, we just keep printing money like its no big deal, and yes that will catch up with us eventually.

Trump stands in way of Socialism The reason people in the US are still concerned about the politics is that Trump is the only one addressing the issues with China, even if not all that well. While the Democrates want to give China everything they want, perhaps because the love socialism and see this as a way to get it in the United States.

Dust4fun's write encourages us to step back and view the bigger picture.

In my view, Trump could have made a difference by involving church leaders and other non-governmental organizations - just like when he was running his election campaign. The reason is there is shortage of leadership in countries like India, Brazil; where we look up to America's leadership / public policy - then copy / paste these programs.

Cardinal Point It is tempting to say that Trump did not rise to the occasion but as you pointed out, leaders from various communities did not come forward either. After all no government wants to show law enforcement weakness by extending invitations to people to lay down the law within their communities. That could be chaotic.

Seems as if Dem's also failed to rise to occasion Dems could have easily created a movement on the lines of 'Black Lives Matter'.

Encouraging to see NYC's mayor, who initially dilly-dallied on lock down - changed his mind and handed over leadership to Governor as competent authority. Now Mr. Cuomo - leading the way on school reopening in August ...

Brave new world - and we are watching.

The good news is that in India, government has approved testing of Covid vaccine on humans and trials on over 100 volunteers began on 16th, Thursday. It is anticipated that the vaccine will work on patients who are in the early stages of infection as well.

We will just test the antibody level in the volunteers. We have injected them with antigen, which triggers antibodies in the body. So we will measure the antibodies to determine the efficacy of the vaccine. - Dr C.M. Singh, the medical superintendent at AIIMS Patna

Recap: DNA sequence of the virus was released by China in March and (as I recall) 17 pharma research labs reported some degrees of successes. Among them, Oxford University is well ahead.

In UK:
Human trails that had begun in April showed improved immune response - antibodies produced — the key to blocking infection. In addition, the vaccine also causes a reaction in the body's T-cells which target the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

The T-cell response did not increase with a second dose of the vaccine, which is consistent with other vaccines of this kind
--xx

Brazil
Brazil’s Instituto Butantan reached an agreement with the Chinese laboratory Sinovac Biotech to produce an experimental vaccine against the coronavirus.

Some 9,000 Brazilians will participate in tests beginning in July, representing the third and last stage of testing before distribution. If the vaccine is effective, it will be produced in Brazil. Sao Paulo Gov. Joao Doria said the vaccine could be available in the first half of 2021.

Seems Oxford University's vaccine offers the best hope and for two reasons.
1. It deals with the mutated version of the virus - since the virus migrated to Europe / Italy
2. It goes beyond strengthening the immune system. It actually breaks the protein spikes (the legs) of the virus.

While I would like to close this thread on this high note there remain many questions unanswered - top among them is why were the Chinese working on development of viruses; and why were their labs funded by US initially?

Further, this great tragedy does not seem to have made any impression on the mindset of the Communist Party of China and the biggest loss is for tech savvy Chinese youth who want to live in the world; in a more free China. Hong Kong stands out as a tall and almost futile example.

I will try to separate my thoughts a little better.

This vaccine, is it using a live virus? Or a dead virus? Or is it something else they are doing? If you look back in history when they came out with the Polio vaccine it worked great although many were skeptical. But in a rush to make it a few labs screwed it up so people contracted Polio from it. Of coarse this put everybody in a panic and delayed things.

Are the going to put microchips in the vaccine? You know they've been looking for a way to microchip everybody for years!

As far as the Chinese working on a corona virus makes sense because of the SARS outbreak in the early 2000's. Often times viruses in animals do transfer to humans, that's how influenza was spread. Why, and how they ended up with this hybrid is somewhat questionable. But then again much of what the government does in the lab is questionable and that's why its often kept top secret. However the internet wouldn't exist if the government wasn't doing some questionable things in a lab and we would not be discussing this right now.

As far as Hong Kong, we know that was under British control for a long time as many places were. Britian was once the super power of the world. However many feel that Hong Kong's freedom will be short lived with China taking over control and putting their Socialist/Communist ways to work any place they can.

I think there's an important point that no one is mentioning; China is China it's not like the west, the powers that be in China could care less if something kills off a few million. There's way too many anyway.
Look back into the 50's and 60's when Chairman Mao was in power he killed many millions of his own people and there are a great many more there now.
Usually when I post on a serious topic like this I plan what I'm going to say but in this case today I'm just rambling so please forgive me.
Another thought is remember that Hitler wanted "living space" for his people and planned on colonising Poland for starters. I'm sure there are others having those same thoughts now.
I'm buying a lot more ammo...........................

Looks like somebody in Washington is reading this post because...

Esper and Pompeo arrived here yesterday ( Monday) on a two-day visit for the third edition of the 2+2 ministerial dialogue which will take place on Tuesday.

The two countries inked the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) in 2016 that allows their militaries use each other's bases for repair and replenishment of supplies as well as provide for deeper cooperation.

The two countries signed another pact called COMCASA (Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement) in 2018 that provides for interoperability between the two militaries and provides for sale of high end technology from the US to India.

According to the US government, India maintains the largest fleet of C-17 and P-8 aircraft outside of the US, and as of 2020, Washington has authorised more than $20 billion in defence sales to India.

If this sales has to go through, we need 4 more years of Trump.

Quick history

Last time we had a defense agreement was when JFK was President.
It was already late because China had by then walked into Tibet in 1950
India didn't have a modernized army - remember we got independent in 1947.
Then we took a hammering from China in 1962 on our borders

By the time we had an agreement -- JFK was assassinated.

What started off as a small operation in Vietnam got more entangled under LB as China got involved

Finally Nixon / Kissinger - Republicans - shook hands with Mao to split the Cold War.

More recently, the Dems under Clinton opened Chinese economy giving China the 'most favored status among nations' for imports. (China had already taken away textile industry from US in the 90s - seen this when I landed in Richmond, VA)

-- Absolutely no problem with raising the standard of living of 1.5 billion people except that China lacked vision. Instead, the Chinese government became traders and as they say, with money - became more arrogant.

Today, younger generation in China have surprisingly very high technical / space technology but all said and done - the vision is chartered by CCP. So it becomes a highly aggressive military charter.

History will repeat itself if Trump does not win

With China, India negotiated for peace for decades. Failure after failure taught us one thing finally. Peace can only be between military equals.

In recent years India is investing heavily in defense but we need next 4 years of peace to turn our borders into a formidable fortress. After this shore up, we could with Australia, keep the Indian Ocean to Pacific sea routes open to the world.

I've met Chinese people outside of China (in US and in Indian projects) and as individuals they are so family oriented that to me, Chinese women appear prettier than these arrogant Indian women in Mingle.

Maybe I have a yen for noodles.
