Congratulations, River!
40 hours a week is a lot but it means more money too. Hope you're going to enjoy the hell out of it!
I will keep my fingers crossed you won't get a roommate, haha.
 drinker flowerforyou

Thanks Crystal

What's the average hours in the workplace there? Here 40 hours is the norm for a fulltime job. I average 43 at my current job, so three extra hours to play will be nice, haha.

Yes, please keep crossing your fingers, I will too, haha. I'll do some serious chanting too. . Omm, no roommate, omm, omm, no roommate, omm laugh

I'm sure if I do end up with one, it will be for a higher purpose

Ah, now I get why you wrote "only 40 hrs".
Over here fulltime is 36 or 38 hrs a week for most, some places still 40 like it used to be everywhere in the past. Depends on the collective agreement for that sector.
We had working time reduction introduced in 1982 in an attempt to decrease unemployment numbers among youngsters in the 80s. Didn't work though, hihi.

Some places here consider fulltime to be 32 hours, so anywhere from 32 to 40. The thing with seasonal work is that some places work you to death and you go over 40 hours, especially if you are in a managerial position.

Today I worked with one of the assistant managers from another store, she generally puts in 50 to 60 hours a week. Around 50 is what I would be looking at if I had stayed here.

Phew... insane. Over here some people work a helluva lot of hours a week, mostly seasonal work, like my son had as a cook. Tourist season was crazy, 10-14 hrs a day, 6 days a week. By the time the season was over he was totalled.
In the past I've worked 24 hrs, and later after divorce 26 hrs as a teacher. That last one made me good money, being a teacher is well paid, but 26 hours, pfff. That wasn't solely teaching, but also marking tests, school evenings with parents, etc.
I have worked insane hours when I had my webshop. But it doesn't feel like work then.

Yes, that's crazy. Some of the positions I've looked at say 10 hour days, six days a week. Forget it! I'll leave that for the young ones, haha. I'd rather not work, but since I need to, it would be nice to work 30 hours and get the pay I would normally get working 40 hours. :)

Yes, less work, more pay, hihi. If I'd have to work it'd have to be at least 28-32 hrs too to make ends meet.
The 24 hrs I did long time ago was when my hubbie was main breadwinner, I had to be home for the kids and that worked with 24 hrs for the most part.
The 26 was more than enough as a teacher. Not an easy job unless it's truly your calling, and it ain't mine.

In any case, you are moving up the ladder, will get more pay, and a few hours less, so that's a great!
It's only 2 yrs ago I think that you had to take the beginner's positions with snotface -and noisy- roommates. So I say you're doing great!

Haha, thanks! Hopefully I'll make it the whole summer without getting a roommate. But they are putting me in the quiet dorm and will try to match me with someone closer to my age.

The rooms are small, it will feel like a can of sardines with another person, lol. I won't be able to bring much. But I will just keep my eye on the prize and grin and bear it. I'll for sure get it to myself the first month and the last month. I arrive a month before the general staff and stay a month after they leave. The benefit of having the room so small, I'll be less likely to stay cooped up. I'll be out enjoying nature and sitting by the lake. :)

Yes, and in case of needing alone time... plan a ritual, start chanting and howling, fill the whole room up with sage (that'd get me out for sure, haha).

Thanks Blondey  waving
Lol I'm sure Eric will survive without me, though the house might not lol.
It's an awesome opportunity. A little less money than I'd make here as an assistant manager, but much better training, both hands on and formal. And tons of fun things to do each day. The Teton Mountains are breath taking and the wildlife is plentiful, I'll be in paradise. love

Haha, too funny! There's other lodges and campgrounds around there. I figured I could always take off for a night, every now and then, if I feel the need for alone time.

And if I want to go off property to explore the surrounding area, by myself, I can go into town and rent a car. They have an employee shuttle that takes you around the properties and into town as well. It runs on a continual schedule throughout the day, so getting away when I want and exploring the surrounding area will quite possible.
