So I read online where someone said to the fact that billionaires or rich people in general don’t need to be going into space since it won’t help humanity in the long run. If they really wanted to make a difference they should be spending their money to help solve the worlds problems or at least pay their fair share of taxes.when it comes to taxes it seems they’re in bed with the politicians who are against doing so. I agree. What do you think?

IT IS THEIR MONEY!!! If you don't like it go out and get your own money! They pay more money in taxes in one year then you will make in a lifetime. This is America and if I want to drive 200 miles turn around and go back home I can. If I want to fly to Mexico and turn around and go back home I can. If they want to fly to space and come back they can. If I want to make $10million I have the right to do so. Jeff Bezos took an 82 year old woman who trained for the original space program in the 1960's but was never allowed to go because she was a woman, it made her dream come true. Warren Buffet is giving all his money away. Bill and Melinda Gates have given away billions (getting divorced, but that's another story) Many rich people have given back besides paying way more taxes then all the poor people combined. Maybe people need to check out some of the other topics? If you want to complain about something then complain about the amount of pollution they create by going to space. But don't pull that give me, give me, give me BS.

I agree with dust, and are you aware that Bezo’s also gave the single highest
donation in 2020, $10 b.i.l.l.i.o.n intended to fight climate change? His money
is not ours to decide how he spends it. When did this become a thing?

Forgot to make the point in the end you can’t take it with you.

Since when should I care what Bezos does? He could have taken that money he spent going into space, and burned it in a pile. It did nothing for anyone.

I'm more concerned about me. How something affects me. Just suppose his little stunt blew up at 10,000 feet? Or a seal failed when he got into space? (actually, if it did, I would have snickered for a moment) It means zero to me.

Been around forever.... remember the phrase "Eat the rich"
It's basically the philosophy of people who covet other people.

Thing is people. The rich may look good giving and donating money but what they really want is a huge tax right off. Think about it! WAKE UP!

We have thought about it and our opinions still stand. Just curious, how much tax money did YOU contribute to this world last year? Unbelievable how most who suck off the system and barely contribute (in TOTAL dollars) condemn those that give far more than they do plus all their friends and families combined will ever give.

I don't care how much money these people make, I believe in capitalism. I made my money, planned to retire at 60 and did son.
My points were I don't think it's right for super wealthy people to pay $0 in taxes and that we can thank (in large) our former scammer in chief. He wanted to be sure to suck up to people who (unlike himself) really are successful in business.

Awww the ole rich people don't "pay their fair share of taxes" BS again by someone who obviously has NO CLUE about who actually pays what "share" of taxes.
I posted this in another thread.

From 2018 stats for taxes paid:

Data shows that the top 1 percent of earners (with incomes over $540,009) paid over 40 percent of all income taxes.

The top 10 percent of earners bore responsibility for over 71 percent of all income taxes paid and the top 25 percent paid 87 percent of all income taxes. Both of those figures represent an increased tax share compared to 2017.

On the other side of the income spectrum, the bottom 50 percent’s income tax burden has been significantly reduced over the past forty years. In 1980, it stood at 7 percent. That dropped to a low of 2.4 percent in 2010 during the recession. As the economy gradually improved after the recession, the tax share of this income group gradually increased to 3.1 percent in 2017. Although the economy remained strong in 2018, this group's tax share fell from the previous year from 3.1 percent to 2.94 percent.

A person making $7.25/hour who worked 40 hours a week for 52 weeks would have an income of $15080. The standard deduction in 2020 for a single person under 65 was $12400. That $7.25/hour person would have an AGI $2680 which puts them in a 10% tax bracket.........10% of $2680 ($268) NOT $15080. If that $7.25/hour person has a child they get a tax credit that results in getting MORE money in the form of a tax return than they owed.

-----------------

Yeah those pesky facts destroy the TALKING point about rich people about rich people not "paying their fair share" and that poor people pay a higher percentage of income tax......but if it makes you feel better regurgitate talking points instead of doing your OWN research you should keep doing so. SMH

Instead of people being critical of what rich people do with their OWN money maybe they should learn what rich people do to become WEALTHY and make the SACRIFICES and put the EFFORT in that is required to become rich. But that is a foreign concept to the people who see themselves as ENTITLED to wealth SOMEONE ELSE EARNED!!!!!!!!
