I've found a few fake accounts using the same pictures.
A woman messaged me and after a quick and boring intro, we exchanged numbers. Within a few minutes I asked for a pictur and replied with the same gesture to alleviate doubt that I was fake.
We had a video call shortly afterwards when I voiced my concerns that another account was using her pictures.
The video was fine and we spoke. She's beautiful and gave me compliments too. I felt at ease after that for an hour but that day (yesterday) and today has rung warning alarms. The way she messages is odd and other accounts with different locations are speaking the same way. Ignoring my questions, asking about my employment and asking for WhatsApp way too soon. Once was my mistake, twice is stupidity.

I've researched deep fake videos today and feel that this is what's happened. When she sent me a video today saying she hopes I have a great day, I watched it over and over and it's errie. The mouth movements to the audio don't match and it took too long for her to do it after my request to hear her voice saying my name.

It's a little upsetting because the woman in the pictures is a stunning Japanese with a beautiful smile and she lives in Leeds which is a 30-minute train ride away.

These scammers mess with feelings and ruin what dating apps are supposed to be - connecting with a potential partner. I hope this post helps someone be vigilant and I'm sorry in advance for your subtle hope being taken away.

Humm my first thought was did you report them to this site? You can report through your emails or even on their profile.

Or did you just agree to go off site and realized they were not legit?

The site discusses within it's blog to report and block them, as well as what to look out for. It details how to report them.

It is not a bug, if reported they do handle the reports. At times it may take a couple days..

I would do only live video calls.

Biggest give away to the fakes is the horrendous grammar that they use and the contrite phrases like "age doesn't matter"

There are other red flags you learn such as the scammer app requests like WhatsApp, KIK, Google Chat, etc. Anything to take you off the site where the admins can't see what is being said (not like that really maters much anyway).

I would find it VERY hard to believe that anyone is using a "deep fake" on a dating site. Been watching too much NCIS L.A. I would say if you believe that tech is so readily available to the average scammer. Oh and out of sync audio is not a surprise talking over the internet. Wave your hand in front of your webcam and watch the lag!

Most of these scammers are young boys in Accra, Ghana and China that do this for a meager living.

All what he has written is a blatant Lies and scripted material . Nothing Else .

I have continued to find another 3 accounts using the same photos and 3 more photos of different women.

I went off site for 2 of the accounts among 8 of them. One pretended to be a HR Recruitment Officer on WhatsApp.

The accounts have been blocked and reported. It's ridiculous who far this goes and how many accounts there are. Mingle2 should invest in better software to detect dublicate pictures on different accounts.

What's funny is that the one person I talk to on here is real, took time to build rapport, video calls often, engages in various topics, now has me on social media and yet lives overseas in Asia whilst the accounts that are Asian women within my town and nearby cities are fake. Irony ah.
