Yeah, the Hunted thing is not what I'd hoped it'd be.
I was really disappointed when they caught this Ricky Allen after using the general public to catch him. I felt that was going too far. The man is a GP for crissake. Very damaging for his reputation.
And doing house-searches and stuff...
I'd never ever sign up for that. Way too invasive to be entertainment.
As you say, it's about showing how good the police are at getting fugitives.

At least having been Mantracker prey wouldn't have an adverse effect on your reputation. And even though someone was seriously out to get you as well, there was an element of fun involved.

I watched the first season of the UK Hunted, I agree it was just too much. Especially when they start breaking and entering other peoples homes. I really did not like the idea of the end (I will not say anything else in case you have not seen it).

So after that season I thought I would check out the American version, which turns out to be the same set up basically. The funny part is when I started to watch it, I remembered that I had already watched this show and was not impressed then either...lol

So I was hoping that the 1990's Wanted show would be better without all the camera tracking and social media...but I am not sure about it either. Here is the start of it if you want to check it out.

Thanks, I'll check that out later on.
It brought to mind that we actually had a Dutch version of this concept as well. I believe some 15 years ago.

I gave Survivorman a try, didn't like that much either, then decided to watch a few Ray Mears Survival episodes on YouTube. You can never go wrong with Ray Mears.
It's not chasing of course, but always very informative and relaxing.
I always say that if something is to happen, a major disaster, I wanna be with Ray Mears, haha.
He can keep you safe, fed, sheltered and warm regardless of the weather and location.
Like Terry Grant, he's also helped military learn certain survival skills.

In any case, considering several shows concerning chasing/tracking, the Mantracker series is by far the best concept of all.
The production people must really have had their heads up their @$$es to not give Terry what he wanted so they could've made many more seasons of the show.
They had the goose that laid golden eggs in their hands and then killed it.
And they have a copyright on the name mantracker -which is insane in itself- and likely the concept of the show too.
I gather that's why no one else did their own version of it like they did with the Hunted concept.
Otherwise Americans could easily have done it, and probably would have since it was so popular. They got cowboys, the vast stretches of wilderness and so on.
Same for Australia.
Yet no one ever did. I guess no one is interested in getting sued.

Survivorman and Ray Mears Survival seem to boyscoutish if you know what I mean. Yeah they know there stuff, but I like the out side the box ideas also.

If they remade ManTracker here in the state, they could keep it a cowboy type or spin it a little and go with a Native American. They were said to be some of the best trackers in the world and then they could slip in some Native American history through out the show. Some with Australia, the Aborigines are suppose to be the best trackers there. I am sure they could change things up just enough to make the lawyers happy, or work it out to use the name again.
