I've met lots of people from online. Only one with the possibility of dating and was WAY let down. You just have to think that.... There is a WHOLE world of web waiting with BILLIONS of other people. It'll be okay. I promise.

We did not even click. First he talked on the phone the whole time to his employees. then He actually gave his phone number to the waitress. And then after we left he sent a text and said he had no chemistry with me. I am worried that is going to happen too often.

noway noway noway noway huh huh

Well first thing..NEVER get your hopes so high they become "unrealistic".

You should have known when talking on the phone with this person some of thier traits. And for this guy to do the things you just described, I could not imagine him being able to "hide" many of those traits, even over the phone.

So best advise i can give...keep things in proper perspective and keep your hopes within reason. then relax and take things slow and see what happens.

what a PRICK!
He just did you an ENORMOUS favour, Life's too short to have anyone make you feel bad about yourself.
Be who you are and do not compromise yourself for the sake of a complete idiot!

I talked to many people on the phone before meeting in person. Truth be told... if they want you to see them a certain way and the have "skills".. they can accomplish that. In part, it is because we want people to be who they portray themselves to be.

I changed my tact to not expecting anything other than friendship.

I never pushed a meeting, I never tried to go outside comfort zones, and I always gave people my undivided attention. I also never turned down a friendship. The last friend I sought out... turned into love.

the only thing you can do is let it go. i've gone through a total of THREE dates that went off like this-

the first one couldn't stop texting and sending her friends pics of our food via her cell phone. she couldn't even put her friggin' phone down for ONE second to eat the food at the RATHER EXPENSIVE japanese restaurant i'd taken her to.

oh yeah... the wench THEN decided she wanted us to hang out with her friends, who were staying at a nearby hotel.

the second one was just an out-right flake- we went on a date and agreed on a second one. then she'd either cancel for no good reason, or she'd come up with a last-minute reason for why she couldn't go through with things and want to reschedule. then she'd flake out all together. then she'd call up again to reschedule again.

i'm not gonna recount that THIRD date, as it's too trying on the brain-matter. explode

so the only thing you can do is cash your chips in when you can and get the HECK outta there. it's not worth the trouble or the crappitude.

There are no guarantee's how things will go just because two people seem to click online or the phone does not mean there will automatically be chemistry when you meet them. But if you have talked for a while normally you will end up with at least a great friendship.bigsmile

well - i'd just do a little more videochat before meeting to see if the chemistry kept brewing...and i'd tell them that my preference is to chat for a while before going out...

it still might not work, but i think that polite vchat would give the best indication before meeting.

when i did meet - i might have a friend on tap to rescue the evening in the event that the "date" ended too early...

flowerforyou

but you gotta keep going out and trying because sometime it will turn out to be the time of your life!!
