Madam, I am sure glad you are my friend. Otherwise, I would feel singled-out. LMFAO. I don't think I fit any of those things you mentioned and if I do. I am not so clever enough to place them anywhere around me or get a tag for that. I would hate to think that someone falls into all that mess. I shall just keep being my humble and meek self. Praise be to Allah! Your friend, sincerely, love always, amen. Curt

noway huh flowerforyou

alot of abuse type threads going on....so i posted this to make a point to one of my responses on it

I used to post threads like this one quite often on another site I'm a regular on. It tends to create a bit of a "lynch mob" mentality or frenzy, I learned. So, even though it is helpful and needed, I tend not to anymore these days. blushing

Sad part is, there is such a fine line between what is normal and what is not that it is almost impossible to tell one of these - the "smarter ones" - from someone who just has a bit of excessive ego going on. Heck, even top experts in the field of forensic psychology have been fooled on occasion. So, for most individuals who cross paths with a sociopath once or twice, please cut yourself a break. There is no way you could have really known or prevented it.

Now, for those who tend to have a pattern of attraction for these, it is an entirely different matter. There is no "cookie-cutter" reason. The reasons and relationship dynamics are as individual as the people involved. I also truly believe that some people are just hard-wired to attract and be attracted to each other, outside of any past history of trauma and/or abuse they might have experienced or witnessed.

Be well.

the reason i posted it is sad...but true.

most preditors as i call them prey on the lonely....they ASSUME that by being on a date site, you are lonely.

they go after the meek and mild, the ones with low self esteem, etc....they charm them, crawl under their skin so to speak...once they have the victim hooked...LOOK OUT!!!

ive been there, done that, please do not get your own tee shirt, borrow mine!!!!

ive been reading alot of threads lately that puts me in mind of it....now i need to listen to my own damn advice!!!!!!!

I believe this, my self esteem was a bit low at the time, but moreso, I wanted to help him, he played the victim very very well, maybe that was part of my self esteem issue, I wanted to feel needed. Maybe that is why I help no one but myself, why I like internet dating, I can really get to know someone, make them wait for me to meet them. I just know the minute a man plays the dominance card, I hit the road, and don't look back.

Thank you madam for posting this, and thank you for being so strong to post some of your story.

I have heard alot of people use this term lightly, and trust me, once you really are dealing with one, you never use it lightly again.

You really don't get over it, you don't trust anybody, if a man is nice to you, you want to know why, and what his intention is. And I lost alot of friends, people who were my friends first even, they didn't believe he was capable of the things he did. It's a lesson we have to learn I suppose.

Keep your head up.

I had the misfortune to fall in love with and be engaged to a sociopath. There is no more painful type of relationship, and as someone earlier stated, these people are so good at what they do.....so convincing....charming....consummate liars and deceivers...they are very good at reading other people and knowing what buttons to push.....will say whatever they think you want to hear.... the damage they do to others is unimaginable.
They mess with your mind, your heart, everything. They are capable of leaving terrible scars on others, and not even bat an eye over it....... it truly is frightening should you ever find yourself caught up with someone like this.

Then they can make everyone else believe it is you that is the mental one.

Unfortunately one was hired at work ... duped a few people out of money ... and has now fled with the police on his heels...

I have never experienced this level of duplicity before ... cool, unflinching, an amazing capacity to zero in and connect with intelligent and genuinely good people... absolutely no remorse ... it was quite astonishing to observe ...and definitely eye opening...

I am grateful for the free lesson ... this has been priceless ... and thankfully hasn't cost me a thing ...
