be allowed to get plastic surgery?

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm serious. This woman was afraid her husband would leave her, so she decided to get plastic surgery...to look like a cat. I can't imagine the mental gymnastics that would be required to come to that decision. "Men like young women. I'm an older woman, so I'll get surgery to look like a cat." I think she needed psychiatric help and not a surgeon. I think it's terrible that neither her husband or her surgeon tried to get her the help she obviously needed.

There are many people who wish to be something that they are not. I have seen thinkgs on TV where people want to look like animals and get surgery to look like that. If thats what makes them happy so be it.

I have mentally ill people in my family. Sometimes a seemingly irrational, but personal decision is actually irrational. At the very least, a decision to go from human to cat should require mandatory counseling. We require counseling to be surgically changed from one gender to another and that's within species. Surgery to make you look like another species should require a great deal of counseling.

He didn't want her to. It was a decision she made on her own. He screamed when he saw her after the surgery. Read the article, you will actually see pictures of her. She's mocked world wide because of her looks. I believe that with counseling, her face would never have been mangled like it has been.

It shouldn't matter what is on the outside. What matters the most is love & what is within the heart.

I saw something on either the medical or discovery cable channel where a woman who was normal is slowly turning herself into looking like a tiger through plastic surgery. However, she is doing it to make money.

To answer your question, the above is so wierd. However, when it comes to plastic surgery, don't people pay for that out of their own pockets? If so, I don't think anyone can stop them. However, it is shocking that something like that would even be considered, let alone approved.

The medical community won't just give someone a sex change, it is a long process with lots of psychological evaluations. If someone wants to be altered to look like an animal, that person should have to go through a similar process. If someone is mentally ill, it is societies obligation to protect him/her from him/herself.

Well I think this infringes on personal rights and she should be allowed to be whatever she wants to be. We all pay the consequences for what we do and if it turns out later she has made a bad choice for herself then she will have to have it undone. I do not however think that counseling before any cosmetic surgery is a bad idea either.

The aging process bites--facial exercises for me. As to the radical surgery or extreme alteration that has to be a mental issue. To each their own, I guess. There is a man who is turning himself into a cat like creature, whiskers and all. He seems lucid and very much methodical, yet I find that abnormal. It has to be based on the surgeon's knowledge of the person. Someone did one too many surgeries on Michael Jackson's nose. Guess when we start stripping too many freedoms away, we are in trouble. I've seen that lady a bunch. It looks like she'd have a hard time with closing her eyes.
