How would you feel about having a Commander in General who refuses to pledge allegience to the flag and to the Republic for which it stands?
I understand that B.H. Obama does just that, and when asked about it he replied,'there are different kinds of patriotism'.
Makes me wonder just where his allegience lies.

Actually the picture you are reffering to was taken during the national anthem so having his hands behind his back was an apropriate action.

BTW GO RON PAUL!!!!

I don't think people should have to pray to or praise a flag, I prefer to pray to God. I don't believe it means you're not loyal to your country, because I am.

As a Vietnam veteran I guess I wouln't feel any different than I do with the one we have who is a draft dodger, a mass murderer, a pathological liar and a freakin nincompoop. My dog is smarter than this dimwit.

An elected official should follow the customs of our country. One of those is to put one's hand over one's heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. Not doing so is disrespectful to our Founding Fathers and to those who died to preserve our freedoms. Obama is dissing our country and doesn't deserve to run as the potential nominee of the Democratic Party, let alone become president.

foreverfifties......

You are calling the president a liar? Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I saw the thread you started about your profile, asking for advice. Several of the women responded by pointing out the fact that you were lying about certain details on your profile. So, don't be so quick to call the president a lair.

Agian the picture was taken during the national anthem, not the pledge of alliegence (sp error). You don't have to have your hand over your heart during the national anthem. Hell I don't support Obama, but slander is not usually a good thing to spread. And if you think not holding your hand over your heart is disrespectful to the founders, what about all the things that are happening today that contridicts everything they fought for. To me that is more disrespectful then not holding your hand on your heart.

EtherealEmbers, the pledge of allegiance is not a prayer.
Allegiance - the obligation of support and loyality to ones'
ruler, government, or country.

Tobias, I am not referring to any picture.

Well then im sorry but I have not heard that he does that all the time. I only heard about the cotroversy surrounding the picture and him not holding his hand above his heart. Though I think this would be a big deal if he never did it.

As long as you are respectful and recite the pledge then who gives a **** where your hands are as long as your not scratching your ass or balls? The man has a lot more against him, like lack of substance on issues,to be picayune about where his hands are during the pledge. Its not like we say it everyday before starting our day either.

I'd rather prove it with my every day actions.. and to you it's not a prayer, but to me it is... where in that definition of allegiance does it say that everyone has to hold their hand to their heart and chant together in order to prove this? I rest my case.

hand over the heart is a gesture.

i'm sure there are many people who will place their hands over their hearts but have no idea what it means to be american and a patriot. you see them all the time, they have magnetic pride on their vehicles

Salute or not, I don't think he's got the experience he needs to be president. Hillary might, McCain might. Personally, my vote's for John. He'll restrain taxes and I think he's right on Iraq. I don't like his oil exploration positions (reportedly he opposes ANWR drilling). And none of the candidates seem to have their head on right about restraining the government spending which is driving down the dollar's value and driving up the price of oil. McCain's making some of the right noises here, but is not totally there yet.

I think some of the Obama detractors are grasping at straws, though. I don't think he's a Muslim and I don't think he's unpatriotic. I did think his wife made an unfortunate comment about not being proud of America until recently. She should be very proud of this country. I've been all over the world and there's no country with as much political or economic freedom as the United States of America. We have a wonderful country here and we need a chief executive that's going to serve her well.
