A couple of months. Of course my son is almost 13. If he was younger I would take longer.

I did not date until my kids were school age. I did not see a great need to bring my dates around my kids but before I did I did and extensive check on them. I had access to resources to do that most people don't. Because I had a profoundly disabled child I also had to have highly qualified caregivers and didn't need to. I also had the luxery of dateing in and environment where there were five well paid men for every woman. That allows you to be very picky and motivates the men to be very accomodateing which I know is rare. When their step dad died I had no intention of replaceing him as a parent and still don't so it is unlikely they would meet whoever I date more than superficially now. They are grown and aways from home at this point. It is not my practice to "entertain" in my home and never has been.

i think it should be a long time.i have not went out with no girl.my daughter has to see that it is ok to not have lots of strangers up in the house.she gets that at her moms house and one has to show her what is right.i am going on over 4 years i brought my child into this world and i am making sure that i teach her everything i have learned in 44 years. she did not have a choice to come into this world at lest what i can do is to be their for her always and i will. i do not spoil her but i teach her each day if i get evolved in with person it would have to be a very special person to bring that person in to my world and my daughters.

Depends on the guy.
...I wouldn't want to get involved any further in a relationship if my boys don't like the guy.
My kids will win- everytime.

I haven't really dated.ohwell ...so I might just be talking out of my a$$...I did get involved briefly with a man and he met my kids accidentally (surprise visit)ohwell
They LOVED him BUT I didn't.noway

I found that if someone got pushy about being with my kids that it was more about them having their own issues rather than having any genuine careing for me or my children. It wasn't like I kept my kids out of conversations or in hiding I just had plenty of people that met their needs for male companionship without the spector of "is this going to be my Dad?" when just dateing.

Honestly the ones I've dated met my kids at the same time I did. When I met them I had no intentions of dating them.
