Topic: ANYONE HERE TRIED SCIENCE?

Has anyone here tried the EHarmony or Match.com options? I am kind of intrigued by the whole alleged 'scientific approach' and '29' key matching points they claim to use. I am thinking in the distant future (when my divorce has finalized) , in trying it out.

I don't believe there can be a scientific approach to finding love. I also refuse to pay to find it...I believe you have a better chance going up to your local grocery store to find loveflowerforyou

Most of my friends that have tried it get told they can not be matched... but that may be because they are MY friends... who knows..LOL

I dont know, Im not a scientific type person,, but I think alot of SUPERFICIAL things get in our way when we do it ourselves. We get fixated on physical things like cars, or clothing, or looks instead of the things that matter , like values , morals, philosophies, attittudes and other things that we sometimes dont even take sufficient time to find out about. I think there is something to a site that looks at those IMPORTANT aspects right off the bat.

I have seen and read so many controversial articles on eHarmany...that I honestly feel it is just another program to feed off you bank account!

You might want to Google "eharmany", then break it down to "complaints"!

That should arm you with plenty of information, for a more informed "future customer"!

JMO and good luck!

There has to be a physical attraction for me and 99% of the people I know...everyone says they want all that stuff like values , morals, philosophies in common, but they also don't want to be walking down the street with someone physically repulsive:banana:

EHarmony is religiously bias so they didn't match me...Match.com was relatively the same cup of tea.

oh, I am sure there is definitely a spot for physical preferences as well,,,but my point is that those other issues are looked at CONCURRENTLy instead of not at all as sometimes happen when people infatuate over the physical...

hey! The one woman I met on Match got pissed after seeing her four times and when she asked me about what I liked in her when I mentioned her butt she got all psycho pissed off at me and lectured me about respect! Needless to say I dismissed her PDQ! If I can't like her back side (my exact words) she can kiss mine then! I don't want any chicks with issues! Waste of my precious time! So was Match.com!

match doesn't use a scientific approach. the % match is based on what you say you're looking for and what others say they're looking for. their sister site chemistry.com is supposedly much like eharmony but for what they charge, it's not really a viable option to me.
eharmony said that i was unmatchable. and since i've been around most of the dating sites for years and have yet to find a match, i'd have to say that they're probably right on the money. they too are a bit expensive for my wallet.

An Open Letter to Scott Ackerman and Fiona Posell, VPs of eHarmony

[To eHarmony staff who read this, would you please forward it to your VPs.]

Dear Mr. Ackerman and Ms. Posell:

I am here writing to you to bring your attention to the eHarmony complaints page at ConsumerAffairs.com. The URL is http://www.consumeraffairs.com/dating_services/eharmony.html

Right now there are 317 complaints on that page, dating from March 2004. Yes, I counted.

At first glance the page looks like a shoutbox for frustrated eHarmony customers. At first glance, one may say, “Hey it’s the Internet. The Internet is anybody’s shoutbox.” That’s what I thought, too, for the longest time. This page is not a shoutbox. I want you to click the FAQ link on that page and read the site’s FAQ. It explains how ConsumerAffairs gathered entries for the eHarmony page all these years.

Ms. Posell, you probably remember ConsumerAffairs.com because its correspondent Joseph Enoch interviewed you last July regarding Nigerian scams on online dating sites.

One section of their FAQ says,

Shouldn’t companies have a chance to respond?
We’re happy to publish responses. There is a response form companies can use to submit their response.

Mr. Ackerman, in interest of world-class customer care, and coming to you as one of your customers, I request that you respond to ConsumerAffairs.com and its 317 published complaints. You have every reason to.

1. They are happy to publish your response.
2. They will be happy to supply you with the originals, including names and contact information, if that will assist you in resolving these complaints.

If you would like to contact them, I believe Ms. Posell has their number.

Mr. Ackerman and Ms. Posell, I hope this wouldn’t get any more out of hand. That webpage is unconscionable.

Sincerely yours,

eHarmony Blog

I did take eHarmony's 29-point matching personality test thingie, and they told me I was unmatchable. I'm pretty sure it was because I'm not religious or homophobic enough to suit their agenda.

They informed me that 20% of the applicants are unmatchable.
