I am so discouraged by online dating. I email with a certain someone, get a little close, become "friends", and WAM! I find that they are either a liar, hiding something, not their picture, something deceptive. I don't get it. These things never occurred to me, to be so deceptive to people. I want to remain on this site because I would like to think that there are decent people here, I know from reading the posts that there certainly are good people, but they definately don't live in my area...so depressing.

I can't really help you with the relationship issues, but I can give you that hug!

Yeah, I can totally understand exactly what you're saying. I've had the same sort of experiences with the 9 people I met from other sites -- all bad.

But I will say that this site has the best people -- in the sense of being true friends -- of any site I've tried, and that's what keeps me here.

I came to the realization some time ago that I'm not going to meet "the one" on a dating site -- the kind of person I'm looking for just doesn't use these kinds of sites.

But there are plenty of other reasons to stick around.

Just keep the faith. The right one will come. Just take it slow and in steps when chatting or emailing. It really gives you time to think. And always remember...Trust is earned it shouldn't be expected.

it never occurred to me to use a phony photo. I would never do such a thing. It just hurts alittle.

The internet is no different than real life...these jerks are out at the grocery stores too....just easier for them to lie behind a computer

It isnt just a site or an online thing people lie in person too. It is just easier for them to get away with online. Just remember that there are good people out there and if nothing else this site will let you meet some possible friends. Try not to take it so seriously maybe that will help and if they only have one picture that is a pretty good tip off.

lol. this guy was the sweetest talker. he had a way to make me feel so comfortable on the phone. Open up. He was sincere. He was honest. He was attractive (to me) on his photo, for a month. never pushed me to meet. Just wanted to ask how my day was. I suggested we meet in a week or two, and he blocked me from his page, refused my calls, left me guilty messages on my phone. He was a nut. no, he was just another frog!
