Louisiana voters think President George W. Bush did a better job handling the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina than President Obama has done in the wake of the BP oil spill, according to a new poll.

The Public Policy Polling survey showed 50 percent of state voters rated Bush's performance in 2005 as better than Obama's. Just 35 percent picked Obama.

The survey by PPP, a Democratic-owned firm, comes as the president tries to inspire confidence in his administration's response to the BP oil spill. He just returned from his fourth trip to the region to survey the damage and meet with officials, and on Tuesday night delivered an address to the nation from the Oval Office. He was meeting with BP executives on Wednesday in Washington to press them to compensate Gulf residents suffering from economic damages due to the spill.

Louisiana voters by no means are happy with the way the Bush administration handled the flooding in 2005. But while the PPP poll showed just a third of voters approved of the way Bush handled Katrina, the numbers were generally worse for Obama. Sixty-two percent said they disapproved of Obama's handling of the crisis, compared with 58 percent for Bush.

The poll of 492 Louisiana voters was taken June 12-13. It had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.

Meanwhile, Rasmussen Reports released a new poll Wednesday showing Obama's approval rating hitting a new low -- 42 percent. The daily tracking poll puts a 20-point spread between Obama's strong approval and disapproval, 24 and 44 percent respectively.

Obama scuttled his respect with TARP!

Now with the BP crisis, what was left of his ship blew up and now only smoke is pouring from the burning oil slick left behind!

What is worst is he already gave all the life boats away before his little ship left harbor!

Just another in a long line of "Sell out" Presidents!

It's ok, libs. Noone's perfect. You won't be shamed for finally waking up and realizing Hussein is helping the Devil realize his dream.

You don't know of any deaths? How about the dozen that died the first day? How about all the fish and wildlife?

If they did the poll in New Orleans it would be the same results. All of LA is being affected economically from this, the worst man made disaster in history.

Did they ask the pollers if they were racist and hate Obama for other reasons first before they asked the other questions?

I would really like to know.

Obama has done an exceptional job with this oil spill.

He has guaranteed 20 billion dollars that will not have to be litigated to receive which is unprecedented in the legal arena on disasters. With a third party processing the claims.

He has guaranteed money for the oil workers not working because of the 6 months delay on drilling.

He has also guaranteed that the clean up will be done regardless to how long it takes.

The only thing Obama is guilty of it waiting too long to let BP do what he figured they knew how to do.

Hating Obama for his race or all the other illegimate reasons out there influence the polls so polls are not a good gauge of anything with this president unless they establish if they are talking to a racist first before they poll.

When this well is capped and finally shut off both our Government and BP is going to do a 180 and break every promise to the American people.Look how long Exxon took to pay those people in Alaska.20 plus years and some are still waiting for a paycheck.BP is going to do the same.

Won't be the same this time.

Obama was smart enough to get the 20 billion before hand.

Obama doesn't have the autority to demand them to pay anything. The United states does not have the power to govern the entire world including what foreign companies are doing in international waters. The authority of the United states ends about 60 miles from the our coasts.

They are just paying some money now to sooth tensions.Just wait and see.In the end the United states will probably spend 300 plus million for this spill and BP will fight those charges in court for 20 plus years just like Exxon did.

So does hating Obama for being a liar and an incompetent leader make me racist?

If it does I got to go tell all of my friends!

I mean hell, I would vote for Colon Powell in a second or Condoleza Rice for president! They really are black! So what they are republicans. They never lied to anyone! Condi has her hands tied by Administration Policy as to what she can say or do whether or not she is a REP.

Am I still racist?

Why does everything have to degenerate to a racist issue in any poll?

Since Obama is not really black by any stretch of the imagination would we have to poll people exclusively of his heritage to not have every poll be potentially racist?

Mexicans hate blacks more than they hate whites except for the ones who hate everyone. I have come across my share of Koreans who look down their noses at everyone not Korean. Black people hate white people and are under the impression whites in general oppress and Hold them down. Bringing the race card to this thread sucks on so many levels!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOO! HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Obama's track record and poor leadership tells us everything we need to know.

$20 BILLION DOLLARS as a fund for the damage they have done so far? That will not pay for SHART when the real die off starts happening. This disaster in scale is like comparing the Earth to Jupiter! I have a large background in Biology and I can tell you the real damage will only take a year to see. The die off has yet to really happen.

BP could have sealed off that well but instead insist on trying to save it! AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT!!!! They actually think throwing money at our elected officials will save the environment!

If Obama had ANY BALLS AT ALL he would be fining them 1 Billion every day that well is leaking! that would quickly make it clear to BP to just seal it off finally!

EFF Racism in these polls at this point! Say that when we are starving becasue of loosing one quarter of our EFFING coast line to an oil spill more disastrous than an Exxon Valdez running aground every day!!

frustrated People Give me a headache?frustrated

...People do!

And BP thinks a comedy based advertising campaign will sway us to sympathize with them! I no longer buy fuel at Arco or any BP stations! If you buy gas there you are a screw! How is that for violating the rules!

If you have a reason to have a beef with an industry stop patronizing them! That is how we can hit them in their wallet!

There you are wrong my friend. Obama has yet to enact the Emergency Powers act and he can have a license to kill. Since this disaster is affecting us directly he can fine them and demand restitution and remediation.

Seriously, do you have any idea what we would do if Mexico had a Chernobyl going on and we were getting hit by the radiation cloud? the scope of this disaster had I of been in office I would have nailed them to a cross and I would tell the UN to go Fuque themselves! I would not stand by and "browbeat" BP. I would seize bank accounts and do a hoard of other vicious shart to them to get them to cap that damn well! If not I would have had the Navy lower a "Sarcophagus" weighted down to hug the bottom and force pump concrete to cap the damn well off completely. Simple enough solution. Then I would have the WHOLE board of directors dragged into our court system and let the SYSTEM chew on them as criminals and FINE the daylights out of them for making US do what they should have done two months ago! They can always drill again!!

OBAMA HAS NO BALLS!
