I picked up a movie from Blockbuster for my father for us to watch today.

The movie was $4.00 to rent. I gave the cashier four, one dollar bills. I received no change.

After we watched the movie, Mom tells me to look at my receipt. My receipt says that I paid the cashier $43.00 and change due to me was $39.00.surprised

The movie was "The Wolfman", btw.

Do you think that he pocketed the money? Do you think they'll catch him by the end of the month when the receipts don't add up?

Maybe he rang it up wrong by mistake.

you rent this movie, you didnt buy it
you have the recipt for proof.. take it back like tomorrow
or better call and talk to the manager with a complaint

i never had anything like that happen
but my mom yrs ago had went to the bank to deposit $100 in her account
the cashier gave her a recipt for $1,000
we were laughing about it and she couldnt figure out why
my mom never told her. but the bank eventually did see there mistake

I thought that at first but my folks think that he pocketed the money. It's such an odd amount.

I think you're right on the money. I used to Manage a Blockbuster and stuff like that went on all the time. I'd call and report it, I'm sure they would appreciate it:angel:

Won't he get caught when the receipts don't add up?

I guess it depends on the Manager...you have to be pretty diligent..I once had a cashier open his till and pocket $200.00 luckily we caught him on camera and he returned the cash.

i don't think it will matter, his drawer will still have the correct change in it.

it's as if you handed him the 43 and he handed you the 39. he still got the 4 dollars that was due.

now if he pocketed the money, his drawer would be 39 dollars short and that would be his fault.

since he gave you no money back, technically you have no responsibility. it's just a typing error.
