Have you been in a situation, when you didn't know everything about the person, and later on, as more and more details were revealed about her (or him) , the more and more you were turned off, instead of liking her (or him) more?

Of course, if you were truly in love, then it wouldn't really matter, but let's say, someone made you believe that she or he is someone else, and turned out somebody completely different?

Sure have with just about each and every encounter I've had. Well except for 1 it didn't take long to realize I was dealing with a basket case. Live learn and react is kind of the way I am now.

I think that's actually my default setting.

Yeah. It was an infatuation. Friends were wondering what was wrong with me. My feet didn't really touch the ground I thought. I call it astronomical romance because if it happens to you a lot you might want to invest in lead shoes like the astronauts wore when they was on the moon. One small step for man; One large step for mankind.

It is a living nightmare.
To talk to someone every day for 6 months.
Then meet them.
And they bear no resemblance whatsoever to the
person you thought they were.
Skin crawlingly different.

The worst was the bi-polar one who didn't tell me he was bi-polar, and wasn't taking his meds. We broke up at a camping event, he went apechit, threatened me, threatened the dog, and threatened the rental truck. I packed up, and parked the truck into a hidden spot in the woods, and got the hel out the next morning. His brother came up to me a month later and told me why he whigged out so badly.

I'm sure it's happened to everyone who's dating. Remember people put on their "best front" until their true colors are slowly revealed as you spend time with them/talk.

Now back to reality ... When do you ever really know everything about anyone ... most people barely know themselves. They are often being surprised how they react to new situations.

As for growing to dislike ... that happens quite often ... hence the divorce rate and the breakup rate is even larger.

Odds are ... if you want to go by stats... whoever you choose won't work in the long run. ... so what. That is life in the relationship world of male / female relations and male / male , female / female too.

best to keep an open mind , open heart and open door.

Yes I have had EXACTLY this happen to me. Broke my heart to break up with him but I felt I had no choice.

I told him, why should I like you if you don't even like yourself enough to be who you really are?

I disagree with the "truly in love, then it wouldn't really matter". Yes, it would matter if the person you thought you were in love with wasn't really that person at all.

I agree! There is NO LOVE that I will remain in if they misrepresented themselves to me...........rant

Yeppiers matter of fact just lately met a guy local a few weeks ago at a place I went too. The more I was around him and the more I learned about him the more I did not want to be around him.....whoa

Needless to say after about 3 weeks I said no more and just told him it was not there for me and we went our separate ways.....spock
