Well, we all know what Politically Correct is but why does it seem the minority has the loudest voice? Not everyone is politically sensitive and yet there are people who make it a point of crying the loudest when things do not appease their sensativaties.
The more I think about it the more Politically Correct = Society of Appeasement. People are so scared of hurting others feelings that even when people know the PC crowd are wrong they cower to the PC crowd out of fear of reprisal and ostracization. When I look this situation over in an intellectual and analytical sense I notice that PC is also a way of Fear Mongering which like an Octopus has many arms reaching into everything. It is almost like the vacuum left by the loss of religion is replaced with the fear of society and what others think. So am I incorrect to assume that Politically Correct is just another brand of Conformist Fear like Religion which was shoved down our throats to try to force us into behaving the way that appeases the few among us with such heightened sensativaties? NOW I KNOW THIS SUBJECT IS GOING TO RAISE EYEBROWS BUT THIS IS AN INTELLECTUAL QUESTION POSED AND NOT A BLANKET STATEMENT SO IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY THIS WELL, ASK ME TO MAIL YOU A QUARTER SO YOU CAN CALL SOMEONE WHO GIVES A DAMN. THE REST OF US ARE ENTERTAINING A DEBATE AND SOCIAL COMMENTARY HERE! If you can rationalize everything wrong with religion, society, and race relations under the PC banner then I demand that MY rights to debate 'Politically Correct' be allowed as well under the constitutional right of free speech! If you are offended you are welcome to debate this as an adult. That is the purpose of debate! If you are offended and cry to the moderators you are a wanker! Look up what a wanker is before spazzing out! (You might just spaz out more!  ) Thank You!

Ummm...no I am not PC.....if I have something to say or I don't like someone I am honest about it and do not hide behind smoke screens and nice phrases......I am who I am and I won't be made to feel less of a person because I am infringes on someone elses sensibilities.....I have just as much right to be who I am as they have a right to be who they are.....I absolutely do not believe in conformity but indiviualism and this should be in the political thread.....as you will probably be told by others......

We have been taught by a system to be PC and blend.. It is those who are not that shine.. happy to express and not hold back, but it's not really forcing anyone to behave in that appeasing way.. Anyone can call me names, say offensive things about my "heritage" or whatever. I`m so tired of having to be P.C. But if I say certain words in the world of P.C. I`m a racist. Say what you want about me, call me names, whatever. But don`t call me a racist. I`m almost 60 years old. I have paid my dues.Have gotten job interviews. Have not gotten hired for jobs because of P.C. Oh hell, I opened a different can of worms. All I can say is THANK GOD that I`m retired. I`m also P.C. incorrect. OMG. I can`t say THANK GOD because of the P.C. police.  I think I will go to my old farts corner now.   Let the P.C. games begin. |

sugar coat the situation and it gives the impression of giving someone some respect when all you hold for them is contempt..... people should worry more about addressing the issues and stop fiddling over the lables... |

I have never been able to pinpoint a specific definition of what PC is,,,
I think I am mature and adaptable, that is to say, I know there is a time and place for everything and everything is not suitable for every situation,,,including certain words and phrases and speech I believe peoples speech says more about them than those they speak about, which is why freedom of speech is important allow people to be as polite or rude , or intellectual or ignorant, as they choose without any criminal backlash,,,but not necessarily without SOCIAL consequence to be extreme, if the KKK want to use racial slurs, let them, ,, so long as they are not intentionally INCITING others to commit violence, it only reflects their own opinions that others can choose to cling to or not likewise, if Farrakhan uses offensive terms, let him so long as he is not INTENTIONALLY inciting others to commit violence, it only reflects his own opinions that others can choose to cling to or not it is just odd though, from my perspective, how certain unoffensive speech is given a negative label of PC but then other speech is deemed OFFENSIVE so I guess whats PC is as subjective a judgement as whats OFFENSIVE(shrugs) I hope I am not too much of EITHER, but I try to be honest AND polite(I never learned that the two couldnt go together) |

"PC" really does not have a specific definition(it's subjective) as people and entities such as the US media seem free to just say "hey that's not politically correct" to anything they do not agree with.
in my opinion political correctness is what is ruining this country and sadly one day will probably lead to the loss of our right to free speech in this nation. |
