Hey everyone. I probably won't be able to maintain this thread, but i think you can all identify with what i have to say.

This was inspired by another thread, but the idea popped in my head, among other things that pop in my head.. like Margaritas on a beach somewhere, but i digress.

Anyway, to the question at hand..

Is it a turn on, or a turn off, for someone to flaunt, or brag on their looks?

Many times, I have heard comments from women, about my good looks, lol, ok, j/k there.

Many times, i've heard women say, what is really sexy about a man, is a man that looks good, but doesn't think he does..

I'm wondering what the guys/women think, about women/men who do promote themselves, and do you find it more attractive, or less attractive?

For me, i like a more modest person. One who doesn't think they are "all that"

Your thoughts?

Simple answer!

You can fill a pretty bag with manure but what is inside is still POO even if it looks good on the outside!

Mark, a couple of thoughts on this:

1.) Maybe it's just me, but there always seems to be an element of desperation involved in the "I'm so beautiful" profiles. And maybe I'm reading too much into it, but a lot of times, I'm seeing it as "I really don't have much to offer, but I'm so damn pretty maybe no one will notice everything else that's lacking."

2.) I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've read a profile where someone writes "I'm a beautiful girl" or "I'm a gorgeous girl" (OK, I can tell you -- it's 14,883,922), and I find myself thinking "Who are you trying to convince, me or you?"

3.) And I find it a little presumptuous for someone to try to tell me what I should consider attractive. Because this is really a far more subjective determination; and, most of the time, I really don't seem to find them attractive, even after they've spent all this time trying to convince me they are....or maybe that's just a reflexive rebellious response....!

Bottom line is, I don't need someone telling me that they're beautiful. I'm perfectly capable of making that assessment myself.

The sheer subtlety of your screen name gives it more credibility than all the "LOOK AT ME I'M SO GORGEOUS" profiles in the world....

I'm a firm believer in if you got it flaunt it. Ive always been of the impression that confidence is sexxy and those who feel good about themselves will be able to help you feel good too.

I have a website.
On this website, which is meant to 'promote'
the business, I do not use a single
adjective to describe anything.
The reason is, I use pictures to show the
product.
And I let the consumer decide.
For this reason, responses are usually favorable.
Because expectations are based on reality.
Not what I say.

Looks are the same.
Completely subjective.
Eye of the beholder.
I can't imagine the presumption of beauty.

I was in a restaurant a couple of weeks ago. A group of three women were at the table beside me. One of the women was (I think) trying to tell her friends she was 'ravenous' but instead kept declaring rather loudly "I'm so ravishing"! laugh

I would hate it, if a man kept telling me how hot he was, i would have to act like he was ugly.
it would just be a natural response.

Really if someone says dont you love my hair, I would probably have to say, Nah I really love that blokes, Oh and look at his body, wouldnt you just love that..

So for me it is definately a turn off.tongue2

A picture tells a thousand words. If someone has to tell me that thier cute I assume that they're very vain which is a major turn off.I have always leed a humble life & I guess I'm looking for a woman who has done the same.

I know a male friend back at home who is always like "I'm way hot!" or "Check me out!", etc. At first i thought he was saying it to make me laugh, but then that side of him would come out more when he was near any female. I would just roll my eyes and walk off. I only say i'm hot if i'm joking around. Me and this guy moved in together two weeks ago, so now i can throw him out when he gets on my nerves.

Hummm even though I don't agree with Andy on many things he has this one down......

I raised my kids telling them that just because some may be beautiful on the outside when they open their mouth they could be the ugliest person you ever met. Therefore treat others the way you want to be treated...

People tend to flock towards those that are true within...
