Topic: Men under six foot need not apply?

I've perused a lot of dating sites before coming here, and the most noticeable thing that stuck out to me was the number of women who weren't interested in dating a man under 6' tall.

I'd see their profile, where their height was listed as anything from 5'-0" to 5'-6", and they still wanted to date 6'-0" and taller!

I understand that height is an attractive feature in a man, but it seems like these women are slamming the door on a very wide range of men, considering the national average for U.S. is 5'-9".

I've dated a couple of taller women, and they acted like they couldn't wear high heels with me, and that was a big negative for them. I couldn't understand that...I'd wear whatever shoes I wanted to wear, so I don't see why they wouldn't, as well.

Ultimately, our height differences weren't the issues in the relationship; once they got past my shorter stature, we had a great time together and we're still very close friends.

So, ladies, tell me...why the height requirement?

I don't have a height requirement. Everyone has preferences, though. We're not going to fit everyone else's preferences.

Its that manly thing I guess. I like feeling protected, held. I don't make it a requirement, its just personal preference. You like what you like. Bottle blond, red head, brunette, short, tall, skinny/slim, store bought chest, athletic...list goes on. There's a type for everyone.

Well, since you asked..
I am drawn to tall men.
I have wondered why and spent some time pondering it.
For me, the short men I have known all spend
their lives trying to prove something.
It makes them seem very insecure.
My father was a rich man, but short.
The $$ served as a tool to get what he wanted.
He did not earn respect, he paid for it.

Having said that, ANYone can overcome stature.
Character, integrity, and a real sense of who
they are always carries the day.

And maybe, just maybe, starting from behind
gives one more impetus to succeed. Maybe they
have to be a better man.

Yeah its something about them I find intriguing. Some very powerful men are short and they got the world in their hands. Tom Cruise, Warren Buffet, George Clooney, Micheal J. Fox (who I still have a crush on SOMEtimes lol). I guess they not that short IMO but they are shorter than 6'0", to me it really doesn't matter. Its all a man to me, how they carry themselves. Confidence without being brash or snooty.

While I do like tall men, I like short men, too. The last guy I went out with was well over 6 feet. The guy before him was 5'4. So, for me, it really is the person, rather than the height.

Hummm even at 5'1 I tend to go for taller guys and always have....The one I'm with now is 5'8 but normally go for those around the 6' mark...

Just what I'm attracted too....it is what it is..bigsmile

I'm attracted to tall women. But it doesn't stop me from dating, having fun with or being in a relationship with someone 5'2". We all carry xtra lbs but I like taller women because they are fit or more likely to keep themselves up. My ex was 6'3" and I'm 5'11" and comfy in my usual business attire. We were together for 15 years and never really went out dancing only because I don't dance.

I didn't even feel like dancing until I met a great 62 yo in Carlsbad and she inspired me to dance. I hear that is a major thing with women, that publicly they have to develop their image as taller, sexier and capable of all sorts of trouble. Somehow we're supposed to subscribe to that idiocy.

At my height, there are tons of women who are attracted to me and they say many great things about me but my height is never an issue.

When you make a 100K a year you can date anything you want. I do.

So you're saying because you make 100k, women are going to like you more?

It's totally irrational but it is what it is...there's no real reason why I like guys taller than myself, I just do.

I am 5'8" without my 3 inch heels and I dated a guy that was 5'2". Only problem was slow dancing as his head was right in my boobs. I was afraid the poor guy might suffocate. bigsmile
