like you have to qualify everything you post with

'thats just my opinion'

and do you ever wish others would qualifiy things they post as opinion instead of wording them as if they are facts?

do you think there is a growing decline in american logic as far as knowing the difference between an opinion and a fact?

,,,im just pondering,,,btw,,lol

I have my andy rooney moments,,,

I believe all to be opinions unless verified from more than one credible source.

I NEVER qualify anything I say.
Because, it is always my opinion, or my take
on the subject.
Everyone should know this.
Everyone's opinion is as valid as everyone else's.
I do believe tis the whole point of the forums.

I am always amazed, seriously, when someone takes
issue with another's opinion.
Silly.

I actually think it’s sort of condescending to add the phrase “jmo”, simply because we, those of us with brains, already know it’s your opinion, regardless of the facts.

I dont mean to condescend, its just that I have observed many many times that people dont know its opinion

usually the same people who believe their own opinions to be indisputable fact,,

don’t take that wrong. it was not aimed specifically at you,
I too have seen this many times and you are right, there are many people who don’t let facts get in the way of their opinions.

I don't always state that something I say or post is just my opinion. (Or how I feel etc.)...But I like to do this on somewhat of a regular basis in order to stay "modest." So I don't come across as too big of a "know-it-all" etc...I'm staying away from the "politics" section for awhile because things can really get "hot and heavy" over there. (And "black" or "white" with no middle-ground or possible "shades of gray!")...Anyway I do think it's easy to slip into a state of self-righteousness these days. (When it comes to opinions and set-beliefs and personal feelings etc.)...By the way everything I stated in this post is simply my opinion!

Often the ego does the speaking when opinions are offered. Emotions also interferes with meaningfull dialogue, wiether on a forum or in person. Opinions are often formed by conditioned patterns of thinking. Example, if someone despises you, dont expect truth, fairness or rational from them, so no matter how factual your opinion, those facts will not be absorbed. Some opinions are formed by accumilating facts, while others make opinions from emotions. But facts come from truth, and truth need no achknowledgement, it will be there when alls said and done.

If someone doesn't like something I post, then they can email me their displeasure with whatever post it was that upset them.

I would think that people know that it's my opinion and not a "fact" when I post something, unless I cite a reference.

I think everyone has a right to their own opinion, I do not think we need to justify our opinions or statements to other people who are in disagreement.

I respect opinions But I always look for facts

I don't bust anybody's balls if I disagree with their opinion

I don't see the use of that , Some people get off on it though

Oh and ... JMO :P

Yeah like, can you back that up? What's your resource on those facts? So dumb, is this a college paper or a chat site?

I believe all to be opinions unless verified from more than one credible source.

I go even further. In the ultimate, every statement that makes a description or qualitatitve or quantitative delimitation of the state or events of the world or any big or small part of it, is an opinion, EXCEPT for the only existential truth that is undeniably more than just an opinion, and was coined by Descartes, which reads, "cogito ergo sum".

If I say I had toast and jam this morning for breakfast, maybe just a memory planted by others, and not a fact. If two thousand people photograph the assassination of the pope, and they all swear it's true, they all may be non-existent people, and the world in which you see them, on tv, on the Internet, could be just a figment of your own imagination. YOU will never be able to tell the difference, and there is NO reliable way of telling the difference by anyone.

So all statements, no matter how reasonable they are when they refer to events and existences in our universes, are all potentially no more than falsehoods.

-------------

Then again, there ARE things that can be beleived, and must be believed, because they are true, necessarily true. Such are:

There is a god, or there is no god.

I shaved yesterday, or else it is not the case that I shaved yesterday.

3+6=9.

If Tally is taller than Evarage, and Evarage is taller than Shorty, then Tally is taller than Shorty.

---------------

These are not facts, though. They are necessarily true, that is true, but they are not statements or descriptions of facts.
