I don’t understand...if they’re fake, then who is typing the messages they send me? what

Seriously though, I have to assume that I’m not the only person here who doesn’t pretend to be someone else, want to be someone else, or ACTUALLY BELIEVES noway they are someone else.

think Coincidentally, that’s the same response I give when asked if I believe in aliens. The fact that we exist ourselves is the very concept that makes life on other planets probable.

Well that’s just GREAT! grumble Now instead of thinking that only half of you are fake, now I'm wondering if thethe other half areare aliens!slaphead

lmao if im either of those ill eat my underwear
There are underware eaters here too! laugh

You asked who writes the messages; I'll mention one place that I tracked down and found it was a factory operation that is still churning out fake people, profiles, emails, fake disaster stories asking for money all over the world by internet dating sites, and at times money,; cash, cheques, cashier cheques, direct wire transfers and even clothes, like fur coats and jewelry are dropped off to this place. I was living in Munich and met a Russian girl; she was absolutely lovely. Russian isn't far from Germany by plane or train. I had several good Russian friends and so I made some inquiries. She was in the town that she said she lived in only the address turned out to be a well known large scam operation in Ilushta, located in the Crimea. They had about 30 to 50 women in shifts on every dating site in the world. They also worked with a local photography studio and a few others in other towns to provide photos for their 'girls' on their profiles. Mine turned out to be 78 years old; widow of a farmer that paid her a percentage of what she brought in. She had a small flat and could not make ends meet with her pension, Her neighbor ran a local brothel in which she also worked as a cleaner. Nearly all spoke several languages fluently and kept huge files on all major cities around the world complete with lists of bars and clubs; anything that would round out he profile address of a city.
Alushta was a nice little town, full of crooks, whores; poverty and the elderly. It was / is also a summer resort on the Black Sea, known for all its totally nude beaches, in fact the entire Crimea, come summer basically goes nude it gets so hot...happy

I found Mingle through "google", because I was looking for a free site to see how they work. More scammers have contacted me here than any other site I was on previous to this. Of course, I was on secured "paid" sites and they are Costly but I met all my previous dates on them. I have a guy still calling me I had only one date with. I do not continue dating a man if he is not a real match for me, because I am seeking a future partner. Men I date have to travel here first. What I am trying to say is the saying, "You get what you Pay for" may be true in some cases of which dating sites work best.

I had the opposite happen to me, toody... I began on a paid site, and that was where I was introduced to the insincere fakes... it got so bad that I closed my account and gave up what was left of the subscription I paid for. After a few days I reopened my account but I lost the subscription privileges. Then a man I'd never met posted Mingle2's site for me to visit, he said it was free. I was curious and looked Mingle2 up and joined. That's the same way I joined another free site is by a member referral, and it's on the free sites where I found the forums for member interaction. So, I'm really grateful to those guys for pointing these sites out to me, even though I never spoke to them before or after.

Many men on here, who are not on these forums are on other "paid" sites because this site is Free and they leave their profiles on here
for Months and Years. laugh I run into a few profiles I seen on other "paid" sites so I know it to be a fact. Anyway, I am happy for the experiences I did have on other sites, or I would look at Online dating not so great either.drinker

Yes, online dating definitely has its pros and cons... literally speaking... laugh

True McKinnon, I'm "out there" and honestly had better luck real time since I started this dating odyssey mid december. Surprisingly the grocery store has turned into a singles club while I had my head down and nose to the grindstone!!

I work for myself, I don't date within my profession, don't **** where I eat!! I can't/don't date my patients. Most of my friends in suburbia are married, so online it is. Scammers are a part of online life though, no sense worrying or getting upset about it.

Now I know this about the online scammers/players. I've never been online dating before 6 months ago and this is a world unto itself. There's a lot to learn about meeting people and there's even an art to communicating with strangers on these sites. It's a real shame that some people find more amusement in playing games that go no where... when, if they put as much effort into finding someone to care about and share a life with, they might actually be happier
about their lives and wouldn't feel the need to deceive.

As this is euphemistically called a 'social site', I wonder if the real social sites such as Face Book has problems by member scamers with fake profiles. I'm just getting slowly acquainted with it because of my art work and have had very positive results.
I would think that if a person was to use facial recognition software programs and run faces on Face Book and dating sites one may get some hits, provided one had the time to run it all day... but they are expensive.
Some sites that branch off into separate states, some familiar faces show up under new names and info. Others that are based in Europe appear here also from other sites, and then again, one has simply fake people on that are not scamers but low level mediocre police or govt. agents "keeping an eye on things" as well as govt. watchdogs that watch for 'Q' words that automatically raise 'red flags' to be checked out by some self righteous self serving agent with access to the Homelands security people. Strange world we wade through...careful of leeches and snakes...

I have found my other half on this site when it was JSH. There are some really nice and good people here, but then there are some really bad ones as well. If you read a profile that says "I am incompatible", then there is a REASON. Just be super careful and dont rush things. Everything works out in the end.

OMG! Traumer, it never occurred to me that any kind of govt agent or authority figures would be posers... I wonder if they actually try to entrap people? Good thing I'm careful about how I talk to strangers now... I really appreciate you bringing this info to our attention... About FaceBook, there must be scammers everywhere seems like, but I've never encountered any there becuz I only welcome my family members and closest friends, which limits the amount of traffic for me.

If you really think about it, do we really ever know the true person that we date? Honestly, our mate could tell us anything and we have to take their word for it..what else are you going to do?
I actually have not dated for a while because I just don't think it is worth my effort. It seems like you get to know one person and then just when you think you have them figured out, one of you decide the relationship is not going to work out.
I was actually with my ex husband for a total of 8 years and 3 months and I did not know the real him. My whole marriage was to a stranger and it was nothing but a lie...thank goodness it is in the past.
BUT I HONESTLY THINK YOU CAN LIVE WITH SOMEONE FOR YEARS AND YOU WILL NOT KNOW EVERY SINGLE THING ABOUT THEM!!! EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS ALWAYS HIDING SOMETHING FROM THEIR MATE...MY QUESTION IS WHY????

No, I don't think so... because we all have our own particular type of buttons that can remain undisturbed for a very long time, but when/if they ever get pushed we don't know how we or someone else will react to the various antagonist. I do believe that the longer we know someone and the closer we are to them, it becomes easier to predict their reactions...

Our hearts are not toys to be tossed about like kites in a strong wind... and we tend to protect ourselves from injury, even if it is merely perceived... why do we hide parts of ourselves from our SO, I think it's mostly to keep from having our truths trampled on by unsympathetic others... IMHO...

Wow Athena, such compliments! blushing

Hold on a minute....flowery words are also typical of scammers. *looks around suspiciously* Just kidding! Scammers are never as personable and sweat natured as our AthenaRose. flowerforyou

Thank goodness eating underwear (thongs, is it?) is more of a guy thing, I think... can you imagine how unpleasant it would be if we women had to eat a pair of menz briefs... that's just too much sweet at one setting for me... laugh

What if they came in gummi variety?

Also, somewhere there is probably an underwear eating contest held annually.
