I had a friend like that. She and I really liked yard sales. It was almost like an addiction as we couldn't pass one by without stopping at them.
I'm a big fan of yard sales too...I wish I lived in an area where they had annual "mile long" yard sales! Do you have anything like this where you live?...I like to go to annual rummage sales at certain churches where they sell "baked goods" too. (Some of the "bakers" are fantastic and prices are cheap!)...I love "final day" sales where anything that can be stuffed into a bag only costs a dollar. How about you?

One of my good friends and his wife had a two week vacation like that. Two weeks with nothing but yard sales. They had saved for a while since they both worked. They got some great bargains but sure were happy to get home. I thought it was quite an original idea. It certainly helped their relationship because with all their work fun was something they sorely missed.

Recently in Mountain Home which is about 24 miles away I was just going to go to the Salvation Army but discovered that the whole road had a lot of thrift shops. I may have to have a yard sale to help me with all the hoarding.laugh
Sounds like a fun vacation...I've been selling a lot of leftover stock from our former gift stores and "swap-meet days" and ebay sales to a friend of mine who still has a store in the area...One day I will run out of stock to sell her and I'm sure I'll probably start hitting yard sales again...The drive to buy and sell never seems to go away. (Despite the "bad" economy.)...Good luck if you decide to have a yard sale soon. What are some of your favorite things to "hoard?" (Collect!)

I am a big nerd so it would be computer parts. I cleaned a bunch out, though. Like this last Saturday I got my pay through the direct deposit. Went to Bull Shoals for breakfast at Connie's Restaurant for the Hungry Man's breakfast. I am back to rewarding myself for working. Then found the back way to Mountain Home and this time arrived at the Salvation Army at 9 in the morning instead of just sitting in the parking lot from being too early. Next, went to the humane society there in Mountain Home a ways down the road. Picked up a neat USB mouse for my computer. Was able to donate some cardboard boxes from work there. She said they could really use them. I have been on the lookout for bowls to use in the kitchen. So at the next yard-sale didn't see any. Dropped in at Wal-Mart and wasn't impressed with their lot either. But when I got to work the next night a co-worker said she had a lot of extras and said if I could take some it would help her clean up her place. Then, of course, Fred's had this cool wireless Gear Head key board and mouse combo I just had to have.laugh

I'm hoping I can get my new girl freind interested in garage saling. I make most of my spending money off it.
But I like that other activity too.

I'm afraid to accept invitations from men right now because I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression or "lead" anyone "on."...I explained that I wasn't ready to date yet (over and over again) to a couple of longtime male friends. (In a nice way!)...And I went out to eat with them. (Two separate meals out with 2 different friends.)...And I paid them back by bringing them food and gave them tools and a few other things that used to belong to my husband and sons. (Extra things I didn't need.)...But I had regrets about all of it (later on) because the men did seem to want "more" than just friendship...So now I just keep to myself and don't have any "activity partners."...My few local female friends are married and lead busy lives.. Too bad I can't dress my cats up and take them out to restaurants with me. Or the movies etc...I would if I could just to have a little company and companionship once in awhile when I go out.

You are right activity partner between opposite sex is not too good. Sometimes guys thinks that you like to date them that's why you agree to be hanging with them Activity partner with opposite sex should be occasionally to avoid wrong impression unless you really don't mind having affair in fulture.

Back to figuring out what "activity partner" probably means.

From a man: He may be willing to show you a good time but since he does not want marriage, he probably wants something else in return.

For me, I like to let my imagination take over on what it could mean:

1. Dinner, dancing, movies, sex.
2. Arm candy at some boring banquet, then sex.
3. Bungee jumping, mountain climbing, river rafting, then sex.
4. Hot tubbing, drugs, sex.
5. Bingo, shuffle board, senior center dancing, fooling around with the noodle. (for the older guys.)

Isn't that just dating? laugh

Dating with the understanding that marriage is not in the plans.

So yes, it's dating. Dating doesn't necessarily mean that marriage is in the future.

Um... I beg to differ. If marriage is not the ultimate goal of dating then what you have is an "activity partner."

Originally it was called "courting." It is a mating dance. Sure, "marriage" may not be the intention, but "mating" is.

And "mating" is all about procreation.

A man and woman having chidren..... which is marriage.

Intentions aside, that is natures way.

We civilized humans created this thing called Marriage.

I have to disagree. I don't plan to marry everyone I date, but it's still dating. I'm not just hanging out with a friend, or an activity partner. That's a bit different. An activity partner, to me, would be going out to do something such as rock climbing, with no romantic/sexual intentions.

I agree with the part that it only stays platonic if the woman wants it that way. a man will sleep with a woman who is willing - sometimes even if he is married or attached. and if he finds someone to be sleeping with, you as a platonic will be seeing less of him, men want sex.

so do women, but women more often want a relationship of some kind to have sex whereas most men (tho they may want a relationship) will not need that as a "requirement" for sex.

It all depends on the man. I've known plenty of men who WON'T cheat on their wives/girlfriends, and who will push away a woman who comes on to them. I also know men who actually DO stipulate they have to be in a relationship in order to engage in sex.

and.....your point? simply to argue and brag about how YOU know men?

I'm impressed :)

they are sanrky buggers for sureflowerforyou

Just because you don't trust men, it doesn't mean they're all out to do bad things.
