This is mostly for the mature lovely ladies over 40. Is just a regular decent looking guy whose is fun, witty, honest and steady just not enough anymore? I grew up kinda traditional and that's the way I go. Seems like now you have to be superman or something anymore. Am I wrong? You younger ladies are welcome to weigh in too. Would really like to hear what everyone's opinion is. Thanks.

On line dating is a candy store, some are sweet and some are sour. Its just a matter of picking what one you like.

many talk a good game but in reality (offline) most don't seem to add up.. but in my opinion.. this is the type of person I'd be happy to get to know... however perceptions change with each person and our own doesn't necessarily measure up to those we have an attraction to.. ohwell

I think a decent guy is good enough. I don't think we expect you to be superman or super rich..Just to have a mind and willing to woo a girl

OP having a pity party?

Me? I'm up at 60 years. I'm bald, somewhat overweight, no top teeth or dentures, low T and flat broke.

I have no problem attracting women.

Ya won't believe me but, my wife is 4'9", 50, looks hot in a bikini and a dark Mexican/Apache. Sweet meat.

As a woman over 40, I wouldn't mind a decent looking who is funny and honest.

But for some reason I can never get all of the pieces to match!frustrated
He's either funny and decent looking, but a sociopath.devil
honest and decent looking but as funny as a tax audit.indifferent
funny and honest but looks like a science projectsick

Or the the trifecta: funny, decent looking, and honestlove
Then HAS NO JOB!!

If you point out some of these superman types to me...or tell me where they hang out, I'll go take a look and get back to you on that one. rofl

Seriously though, it sounds as if the women you go after are not those who appreciate the assets you have and value. Maybe reassess the type of women you approach? flowerforyou

no one can really be anyone but who they are......and the longer you hide who that is, the longer it will take to find someone

it takes longer to build trust online because ...h@ll I could tell you I'm friggin Cindy Crawford hot and post fakes pics....how wouldja ever know???? :) So you can say your decent, good, not bad looking etc etc.....how do we REALLY know that is true?

that said. this is the value of forum participation....and why I would not even consider someone who is not a regular on the boards...that is my MINIMUM requirement for ANYTHING online...because the boards allow us a deeper knowledge of who you are and if you are the "real thing" it will come across on here, or not

even then...there are still things like attraction and compatability that have to happen once you meet in person. There are lotsa "decent" men who I like, but am not romantically attracted to.... it's a bit more complicated than the usual boring cut & paste email...lol

Listen, Chica, I'd still have a job if I hadn't become physically disabled, and it's not my fault that government disability payments aren't that big.

no disrespect intended Dave.. but it would depend on the disability..

I'm handicapped, have been since I was hit by a car and paralyzed in '99 but I've been supporting myself and my kids since 2001 ALL on my own(no government hand-outs OR alimony for me OR the kids).. I re-invented myself and found a way to earn a decent living while being a full time mom... AND managed my own recovery.. I still do it today.. so excuses can be found IF one wants to look for 'em.. personally.. if I can do it? I figure ANYone can.. it's all about choices.. drinker

Can't we just all agree that both men and women, as individuals, have different views on what they want? It sucks when you are into someone who doesn't fancy you. But don't whine about it. Simply realize that someone better is out there for ya.
