I have been impressed with how they organize for charity and how they support their own community as well.

Those I have spoken to have seemed very well mannered and caring.

Are you deliberately trying to open a can of worms?

As door to door efforts go, there are two main groups that actually are far ends of the spectrum of Christendom.

Mormons, that teach that Jesus is both Heavenly Father and Son, which is an extension of the Trinity doctrine. The most interesting thing about this is that it is actually something that can be quoted from the Book Of Mormon (Their Principal Holy Text).

Jehovah's Witnesses, that teach that Jesus is a subjective entity of the Almighty God whom they call Jehovah. Jehovah being the Heavenly Father. J.W.s often use their very own translation of the Bible called the 'New World Translation', but if you've got a King James Version of the Bible a common reference to Jehovah can be found at Exodus 6:3.

The Mormons also preach about Smith, from their 'book of Mormons'

and JW will preach or teach from the nwt or the king james,, whichever is your preference

I have sat and spoken with both, and invited both in to discuss our views,, I don't see them as so different

Taking care of their own? Only if you are doing as they say 100%

It is true that there are bad Mormons as well as good Mormons. (I would like to think that I am a good Mormon (I was a bad Mormon a couple of years ago though)) Just like there are good Catholics and bad Catholics, good and bad Protestants, etc. Those who practice what they preach are good that get their teachings either from the Bible or the Book Of Mormon. Most Mormons see people of all religions (including the other Christian Faiths) as their brothers and sisters. We try to help people from all walks of life. It is false that we only "take care of our own" if they do what we say 100% of the time."

Article of Faith 11 states "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may"

.. my entire family background was based on the Mormon religion..
my dad broke ties with the church..
.. so... we us children were not raised.
with the knowledge of Mormon beliefs..... my grandparents.. and uncle still live in Cardston Alberta..
. where the temple is.... and let me tell you it is a beautiful place... the temple.... you're not allowed all the way inside... unless you're in the book... but the part you can go inside of beautiful..... I mean breathtaking...

the ones I Met seemed to take care of their own, they can work in places where other mormons run, and be able to be surrounded by others with their values, seems similar to jewish in that regard

and

they organize to give inside other communities,, much like JW and NOI

whatever shortcomings are there, these are the things, as an outsider, that stood out to me as positive

My first husband was Mormon...I had countless missionary's trying to " show me the way"... After several months three big black cars pulled up in front of my house...the " top twelve" of the church...told me I need to quit talking to the missionaries .. I was confusing and scaring them...lol...never got another door knocker after that...lmaolaugh
