Is it? Is it seen as bad that a guy holds open a door? Or stands when a girl enters? Why should it be just guys that have to do this? Is it because everybody, men and women would be constantly standing up and upsetting the waiters trying to serve food?

I generally hold doors open for every one if they're close enough behind me. I personally love the double doors of apartment buildings, if they do not thank me after the first door then the second door is a surprise attack.

Standing when a girl enters is fairly out dated, I imagine.

It's not that manners are going out of style, it's that the world has become more rude and manners are being forgotten.

Do like your thinking ie the doors. And it may be seen as outdated but do believe it would send many women weak at the knees, shame...

I think of manners as someone who is genuinely trying to be kind to someone else for nothing in return. What you are saying is deceitful and classless, and not romantic at all.

Sorry? Didn't fully understand why I have upset you? I was merely asking why people don't do stuff like that anymore and that I for one would appreciate it. So what is deceitful about that? What is classless about that?

Like mentioned above opening doors for (people in general) is still alive and well. I've seen from young people as well.... For a lady the car door as well...and although somewhat antiquated, I like the tradition of standing when a lady approaches the table.

Also, although the rudeness is the loudest as far as media is concerned (and there are CERTAINLY rude folks out there), I think social graces are MOSTLY alive and well. Day to day I hear more pleases, thank yous, and excuse mes than not. I am hopeful!!! happy drinker

I was brought up with good manners, and how to treat a lady.I often get compliments for those things, but while grateful,i also find it a shame that my ways stand out so much to warrant such compliments.
As for those things making a woman weak at the knees ? That is very shallow, the above mentioned are should be natural and selfless...

Why am I being stamped on for expressing how much I would appreciate that? I'm sorry if it came across as if I meant all women. It would send a little flutter to me all the more as it is rarely done so today.

I think good manners are always in style and we need more people with this quality in the world.

I don't think romance is dead but in this world of technology we seem to be losing the touch of humanity and kindness to each other.

I'm a Pisces, naturally very romantic...

I believe that the newer generations, well, presently how things are... We're kind of thought to live the fast life, no taking your time with who you're with or noticing the people around us. If you think about it, it takes time to be passionately intimate and learn to know what your partner deserves. Like Angel is stating, technology keeps us distracted because we don't look at whoever we're with to keep us entertained and learn to treat them better by sharing thoughts.. We stay distanced and quickly turn to shortcuts to keep us distracted from the negatives in life. If we can take our time to listen, we can adjust and learn that a smile can really touch us in a way that no piece of tech or other forms of enjoyment ever will. There's a lot of factors to why romance can be dead, but those that know romance, they know how to make a relationship feel special. We all want to be happy and having romance is really a way to show that love and appreciation where those needs will get filled even more often...

a happy romantic life can be felt ceaselessly if one live with no expectations of what others SHOULD do.

entitlement kill romance in it's cradle.
