What about the Muslims and the Jews and Hindu and others? . There is no christmas for them. So I'd say happy holidays.

, they will say to you 'happy holidays'..to which I reply 'Merry Christmas'..

I'd say happy holidays too.
Just because there's thanksgiving, Christmas, and new years still to go.

Not to mention, if someone at a store told me "happy holidays" then I'd return the sentiment equally.
I don't know why they're saying happy holidays.
Boss told them to, they're Jewish, they're happy and want to spread it.
But responding "merry christmas" to someone that says "happy holidays" seems passive aggressive and selfish.

Seems the civil thing to do is just return what you get so something meaningless isn't made into something bigger, the end of a conversation doesn't become the beginning of an annoying one.

"How are you?"
"Fine thanks, how you doin'?"

"Have a good day!"
"You too, have a good one."

"see ya later!"
"Yep, later gator."

"Happy holidays!"
"Thanks. Enjoy your holidays."

So.. Merry Christmas everyone!

You too, have a good Christmas.

Hindu and others?
What about em?

There is no christmas for
them.
Sucks for them. Why should I tone down my Christmas spirit just because someone else may get offended. Thats on them. To me, its Christmas....not Halloween, Valentines Day, Hanukkuh, Ramadan, or whatever.

So I'd say happy holidays.
Merry Christmas!!

we are political correcting our free speech away, I say Merry Christmas because that is what I'm celebrating, being in the military I was around all types of religions, I'd say Merry Christmas and many would respond to me 'happy Hanukkah' to me, because that is What THEY were celebrating, I personally like it better that way I learn about the other individual.

We spend to much time trying 'regulate' what others can and cant say or to find a saying that will never 'offend' anyone instead of just saying what we want, and being accepting of others responses.

I personally will say Merry Christmas, if they respond 'Happy Hanukkah' I'll say thanks enjoy the time with your family as I will enjoy the time with mine.

if they respond 'that offends me' I'll respond with 'too bad, grow a pair'

This, plain and simple.....you will not offend me by wishing me well with any of these.

And, I say Merry Christmas....IF that offends someone, then so be it, they are offended and I really don't care.

Well I will say "Happy Solstice". Not just to be ornery, but that's what I figure it's mainly about.

im going to start saying "happy low balance bank accouny days" or "happy decorating a tree and cleaning up pine-needle days" and both of these can lasst through April when the mysterious pine-needles are finally gone, and we use our tax-returns to restore our bank accounts to their proper order

While I agree with Glenn Beck rarely, he always had the best solution: Happy ramachanakwanmas. That way everyone is included. Seriously if people are going to be inclusive do it by combining all of the holidays not a generic Happy Holidays.

For me it is, and always will be, Merry Christmas. Other people can feel free to respond in kind with their seasonal greeting. Instead of always being offended, it should be about spreading good will, cheer, and peace, ... right?

True story....couple years ago I was shopping at Target. It was in December and the store was busy. The cashier that rang me up wished me a Merry Christmas. I guess I looked surprised when she said it. She then continued to say, "I don't care if they want me to say Happy Holidays. I say Merry Christmas. Folks just gonna have to deal with it". LOL! I loved her attitude and I completely agreed with her. I say it Merry Christmas as well....it's just what I do. I ain't gonna stop cause someone gets their panties in a wad about it. It's like that whole red Starbuck's cup.....WTF!!!!!! It's a cup....and Merry Christmas. drinker

Saying Merry Christmas halfway through November is silly to me.
Over here ppl start doing that in shops about a week before Christmas. But we still don't say "Merry Christmas", as that's what you say on Christmas day itself.
It's more the equivalent of "happy holidays", literally translated "Happy Christmas days".

It must be nice being a kid in Canada. You get the last major holidays of the year to yourself. You go from candy and costumes to thinking about receiving more gifts for two months.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
