It is Nov. 14.. and my neighbor has their Christmas tree up already.. and I've seen other homes with coloured lights outside as well..
I know there is a movement for stores not to decorate for Christmas until after Remembrance Day..but holy smokes.. this to me, is early..
I put a tree up about Dec 15th.. How about you? (if you're so inclined, that is)..(those that participate)..

I think this is way too early to put up a Christmas tree. The thing will be dried and dead by Christmas. Unless its a fake one... still too early in my book.

going by this type calendar he must leave it up until sometime in Feb.

It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay tooooooooooo early. For me, Christmas starts the night of Thanksgiving with the music, and on 12-1 for everything else. Anything else is entirely too early.

Most people over here used to wait till after St Nicolas on Dec 5th, as that's when the kids get their pressies. St Nicolas is far more important to kids and families than Christmas. Thank god that tradition is still alive in spite of Americanism creeping up on us.
But more and more people put the tree up before that, esp ppl with older or no kids. Some do pressies then, but usually only when the kids are older and don't believe in St Nicolas anymore.

For me it's somewhere around Dec 7th. Still don't feel right -and too early- to do before St Nicolas is over.

I was led to believe that it was 12 days before and after that the tree went up and was taken down.

As in the song, on the 12 days of Christmas, maybe that's just a British thing.

As a kid we had a pine tree in our front yard
We would decorate with lights and all sorts. We didn't need to worry about rain or snow. We had many summer nights by it talking with our mates. We even Camped by it. Best summers yet.

Oh hang on, that's to do with Advent. And no that's not a British thing. That's the 'official' way according to the bible.

I'm kinda Scrooge when it comes to Christmas.
Decorations and music shall not be displayed or played until after Turkey day here in the U.S.

I hate most Holiday music! ill

Is it really, I'm not very religious so I didn't know that.

I have always put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving. I don't mind someone doing it early and I am sure people have their reasons for doing so. Growing up it was always a big deal for me and my Mom to decorate the tree on the day after turkey day. Back then Black Friday wasn't as big as it is today. laugh

What bible do you use? If you know anywhere in the bible where it says to celebrate Christ's birthday or that he was born in the middle of the winter, please give me the scripture.

I have seen a few trees decorated here as well. We usually start decorating the house and yard the first week end in December but the tree doesn't go up until about mid December.

I put the lights up on the house and decorate the trees outside ...shortly after Halloween... but I don't turn the lights on until sometime in December.. and I wait till December to decorate the inside of the house... I would sooner put my outside decorations up and hang the lights on the house and trees while it is still somewhat warm out..
Bit of a pain in the *** to do it when it's 40 blowout..lol
