A man arrested at a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas over the weekend told authorities he tried to grab an officer's gun so he could kill the candidate, according to court documents released Monday.

A complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Nevada charges Michael Steven Sandford, 19, with an act of violence on restricted grounds. A judge denied him bail at a court hearing Monday.

Authorities said Sandford went to a Trump rally on Saturday at the Treasure Island Casino and approached a Las Vegas police officer to say he wanted an autograph from Trump.

The court document says that Sandford was arrested after grabbing the handle of an officer's gun in an attempt to remove it.

When Sanford was asked by a Special Agent why he attempted to grab the officer's gun, he replied "to shoot and kill Trump."

If he failed, Sanford stated he booked tickets for a Trump rally in Phoenix and would try to kill Trump there. He added that he had been planning to attempt to kill Trump for about a year, but decided he would act on this occasion because he finally felt confident about trying it.

The 19-year-old said in the court documents released Monday that if he were on the street tomorrow, he would try this[killing Trump] again.

Sandford had a United Kingdom driver's license with him at the time, according to the criminal complaint signed by Secret Service Special Agent Joseph Hall.

Secret Service agents said that Sandford told them he had been in the U.S. for about a year and a half, lived in Hoboken, N.J., and drove to the San Bernardino, Calif., area before coming to Las Vegas on June 16.

Sanford also authorities that he went to the Battlefield Vegas shooting range the day before the rally and fired 20 rounds from a 9mm Glock pistol to learn how to use it. Police detectives who visited the range spoke with an employee who confirmed that he provided Sandford shooting lessons, according to the complaint.

About 1,500 people attended the Las Vegas rally, which was held in the Mystere Theater inside the casino. Attendees had to pass through metal detectors manned by Secret Service, police and casino security officials.

I don't care if it is Obama, Hillary, Bernie, Trump, Bush or any other candidate or elected official. Anytime I hear of someone who is planning on, thinking about or trying to kill one of our elected officials or candidates I get sick to my stomach. If you don't like them, take them out in the ballot box. These actions are something you would expect in the Middle East, not in a civilized country like ours.

2 quick questions.

1 How many presidents kings or heads of state have been assassinated in countries in the middle east?

2 How many presidents have been assassinated in the United States?

Let's narrow answers down to the last 200 years.

What is your point? offtopic

To NOT talk about the OP's topic ?
To NOT talk an assassination attempt?

offtopic

Nope, I'm on topic. The attempted shooting of Trump is not a lone occurrence in U.S. history. In fact:

Assassination attempts and plots on Presidents of the United States have been numerous: more than 20 attempts to kill sitting and former presidents, as well as the Presidents-elect, are known. Four sitting presidents have been killed, all of them by gunshot: Abraham Lincoln (the 16th President), James A. Garfield (the 20th President), William McKinley (the 25th President) and John F. Kennedy (the 35th President). Two presidents were injured in attempted assassinations, also by gunshot: Theodore Roosevelt (the 26th President) and Ronald Reagan (the 40th President). With the exception of Lyndon Johnson, every president's life since John F. Kennedy has been threatened with assassination.
-Wikipedia

Add in the tragic murder of Bobby Kennedy and the near killing of congresswoman Gabby Giffords and it's much more widespread than just the president and the people near the president at the time of the shooting. It's a particularly American problem. Saddam was hung by Shiite countrymen (or so we are told) after his capture by U.S. Forces. Ghaddafi was shot stabbed who really knows what actually killed him but there was a significant lengthly coup before.

Who in the middle east was just assassinated?
What third world country in the area assassinated their king, president, emir, caliph, emper- you get it. How many compared to the U.S. in the past 200 years?

Man arrested at Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas wanted to kill candidate

http://news3lv.com/news/local/man-arrested-at-trump-rally-wanted-to-kill-candidate/

LAS VEGAS (AP) —

A federal officer says a man arrested at a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas told authorities he tried to grab an officer's gun so he could kill the candidate.

A complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Nevada charges Michael Steven Sandford with an act of violence on restricted grounds.

It cites a report by Special Agent Swierkowski, whose first name was not included, saying Sandford told officers he drove from California to kill Trump and went to a Las Vegas gun range the day before to learn to shoot.
SANDFORD, Michael Complaint 062016

The complaint says Sandford went to the Battelfield Vegas gun range on Friday to learn how to shoot a gun. Sandford claimed it was the first time he had fired a gun. He said he fired 20 rounds from a 9mm Glock pistol. His apperance at the range was later confirmed by a range employee.

Sandford later went to a Trump rally at the Treasure Island Casino and approached a Las Vegas police officer to say he wanted an autograph from Trump.

The report says Sandford was arrested after grabbing the handle of an officer's gun in an attempt to remove it.

Officer Ameel Jacob was at the rally to assist in providing security. Sandford approached Jacob and attempted to seize the sidearm by grabbing the holster and handle of the firearm with both hands in an attempt to remove the firearm from the holster. Sandford was apprehended by several officers and escorted out of the theater.

"Sandford further stated that if he were on the street tomorrow, he would try this again. Sandford claimed he had been planning to attempt to kill Trump for about a year, but decided to act on this occasion because he finally felt confident about trying it," the complaint states.

He also said he had booked tickets for the Trump rally later Saturday in Phoenix in case he didn't make the attempt in Las Vegas.

It wasn't immediately clear if Sandford had an attorney. Las Vegas police say Sandford is 19.

He had a DRIVER'S LICENSE from the UNITED KINGOM on his person when he was arrested.

Sandford's VISA to visit the U.S. had EXPIRED several months ago, according to testimony in court this afternoon. He had been living in California in his car after leaving New Jersey where he lived for a year after coming to visit from Great Britain.

* So not a citizen of US & probably not of the UK either, no information on his background or why he was here, or how long, what he was doing for over a year. And no names in article to back ANY of it up.... " spock

No offense, but this is considered hijacking someone's post. I would setup a post. It is intresting..

The thread starter himself, started the comparison to the ME with this, his only personal comment:

Why is it "hijacking" to expand on that?

As for threats against our candidates and leaders: I have seen dozens of threats posted in forums like this, especially against Obama. None that reached the point where the Secret Service could quite act against the people saying what they did, but close.

I support the Lpdon's assertion that NO ONE should be suggesting violence of any kind, as a way to decide internal political differences. There's nothing brave about it, there's nothing intelligent about it.

And it's dangerous. There really are a lot of borderline people in the world, easy to push over the edge. They are the ones who terrorists and other enemies use most commonly to attack us.

No matter how awful you might think it will be for the U.S. should either Trump or Clinton become the next President, there should be no HINT that physically going after them is anything but reprehensible.

From a legalese point of view,
there's quite a bit of difference between
the actionable threat made against Trump, today.

And a forum poster referring to president Obonzo,
as a "douche canoe".

Ill will? As in Obama promoted ill will ? So all the attempts, by people to get into the White House, to kill him, were justified or understandable?

What about JKF Jr? Bobby Kennedy? MLK Jr? Malcolm X?
Ronald Reagan? Gerald Ford?
....how about Abraham Lincoln?
Some people didn't like them either, & thought they promoted 'ill will'

But hey.. The perp is an illegal
foreigner from some unknown country, who can't vote & tried to kill a guy who may very well be the next President of the United States.
But it okay..Because, you & the perp ,don't like him.
