I find if I start worrying about what others think I get panic attacks. I minimize it by not giving a rattatooi.

Come to think of it Ome, I had that experience before! Obsessing over other's opinions can drive you insane!

Do you care what other people think of you?

Whose opinion has enough power to influence your actions?

I'd be lying if I said no. I do but not as much as I did in the past and not for the same reasons. I used to care because I very much wanted to be liked and loved. But found that when I changed to their expectations, it was to no avail....and I prefer to be me.

Now I care, but not to the extent that I would change who I am to suit someone. I care about first impressions as far as work goes, and meeting new people. And if I were to meet someone special, I would care what he thought of me, because I wouldn't want to be with someone who thought poorly of me.

Basically, it's none of my business what people think of me, it's mostly important what I think of me.

As far as whose opinion has the power to influence my actions, right now, my boss...but only as far as my work performance goes, and how I may better myself in interacting with guests and co-workers. Others opinions matter when I ask for their opinion. Unsolicited opinions only matter if I see validity in what they say.

People ARE NEGATIVE TO ME MY DOCTOR SAID TO ME IN HOSPITAL THAT I WOULDNT WALK AGAIN MY SOCIAL WORKER SAID I SHOULD LOWER MY EXPECTATIONS AND ALL IT DOES IS SPURN ME ON TO PROVE THEM WRONG,they said I wouldn't be able to live on my own without help, I'm now walking without my walking stick, so called experts round me are negative I won't be beaten I could tell you so much more but I am not negative

Good for you Adam.
I have friends injured in afghan who were told they'd never walk or do certain things, this was like a red rag to a bull to them. It just made them stronger and more determined!

I don't care what people think of me.
But sometimes I do struggle with the high heels and short skirts. my brother says I shouldn't wear them in public,

I call it "selevtive caring" pisces.
What you described in your post is very relatable.

Age makes you too tired to obsess over some of the things we did when we were younger . Its kinda like child rearing . For the first kid, every parent is petrified they will kill their child. By the third , you re too worn out to invest that level of panic lol

It is selective caring.
It is unique to each individual because we are all unique.

There are things that I care about and things that I don't care about.
All for my own reasons.

If I say I don't care about something I get flack because I am seen as being unethical or without empathy. People will try to goad me into caring because they think that because they care about it, I should too.

If I care about something that others don't, they will dismiss it or ridicule me for my own beliefs. Again, trying to change my stance.

If I change my stance on something just so I get others approval, I am lying to myself. Is it easier to get along with others? Perhaps. Is it easy to lose your own sense of self? Yes.

And losing your sense of self is too high of a price to pay for acceptance in the long run flowerforyou

Like others have mentioned, I'm the type to lean toward "selective caring". Those who actually have merit in my life, then I care of their opinion. But many times have not cared even for my own family's opinion, because it was something I personally didn't care for, or didn't faze me enough to persuade or change my thoughts.

Yes when you get older opinions don't matter much. As someone said "What you think of me is none of my business" or the people that mind don't matter, and the ones who matter don't mind.
