ea10 ..... copied/pasted part of your post ..... ".... right now there is a major political shift occurring in each party as well as in the nation as a whole. ........ patterns and trends change and it looks like it is time for a Democratic upswing now."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As one of the posters noted, the people threw the Republicans out and brought in Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, who have done nothing, except to bring Congress to a historical disapproval rate.

I believe it will be a Republican victory in Congress --- very narrow --- also a Republican President --- again by a small margin.

The democratic candidates have already committed to raising taxes and creating a federal healthcare system. Additionally, HC, BO and JE all are soft on illegal immigration. They want amnesty for the masses. The combination will destroy the American way of life. See the links on illegal immigration below:

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to
illegal aliens each year.

2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for
illegal aliens.

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and
secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for
the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor
babies.

6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal
aliens.

9. $200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are
caused by the illegal aliens.

10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In
particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0606/12/ldt.01.html

11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500
illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine and marijuana, crossed into the U.S. from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report:

I agree that something
will need to be done
about illegal immigrants,
but first we have to
identify them.

That's the Catch-22.

I think we should require
all illegal immigrants to
come forward and be identified.

Those who want to become legal
citizens will go through a
background check.

If they pass that, they will
have to decide whether or not
they want to become naturalized
citizens.

In that case, they will pay a
fine for breaking the law,
be able to apply for a
temporary visa that can't be
counterfeited (I'm thinking
with a hologram) and go to
the back of the line.

They will be required
to take classes to read
and speak English.

That's not amnesty.

If they don't pass,
if they have felonies
or are otherwise
'undesirable',
they immediately get
shipped back to their
countries of origin.

This will require
a 'grace period'
they can come forward.

After the grace period,
those who have not come
forward will be deported
if they are identified
as being in this country
illegally.

Most of the problems of
illegal immigration can
be solved with proper
law enforcement and
identification that
can't be counterfeited.

   Democrats won't win the White House in '08 for one simple fact... Terrorist want them in charge. With any of the main 3 democrat canidates in charge, America will be ripe for another 9/11 or worse. I know you left-wingers don't like to hear this bitter truth but the TRUTH it is. When you know this, the truth shall set you free. I have no doubt, Americans will keep the GOP in the White House.

I have to disagree
with you, Dragoness.

I think that Democrats
were elected to Congress
because America wants
a change in the way
things are done,
because the policies
of the Bush Administration
have been disastrous for
the most part.

But these changes cannot
be made if the President
vetos almost every bill
Congress presents to him.

The Senate can over-ride
his veto with a two-thirds vote,
but that rarely happens.

And so you have an obstructionist
President and obstructionist Republicans
in the Senate, therefore the bill
does not pass.

So people are mad at Congress
because not enough gets done,
when they should really be mad
at the obstructionists.

And how much got done when
the Republicans were in charge
of the Senate and Congress?

Very little.

Bush was in office for less than 1 year when this happened. The planning process had been going on for years and was orchestrated during the previous administration. Unfortunately, when Bin Laden was offered to Clinton, he refused. I do not blame Bush! At least he had the courage to take the fight to them. The Dem's would have still been talking about it (6 years later)and hoping the UN would solve our problems, meanwhile we would have been hit again and again.

Here's a good link about
the Clinton Administration's
actions concerning Bin Laden.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4540958/

As far as why Clinton didn't
get Bin Laden, this statement sums it up:

"In reality, getting bin Laden would have been extraordinarily difficult. He was a moving target deep inside Afghanistan. Most military operations would have been high-risk. What’s more, Clinton was weakened by scandal, and there was no political consensus for bold action, especially with an election weeks away."

I am not happy with leadership on either side. However, it is my firm belief that the Democrats have the worst possible agenda for this country. It is not the same Democratic party of JFK. In fact Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are about as "antiAmerican values" as any person in office today. With their leadership, I fear for the country that my children will inherit.

Back to illegal immigration. If you have a waterleak in your house: do you first identify where the water is, or do you fix the leak and then clean up the mess? What you propose is ridiculous at this point. We still have a porous border that allows thousands to enter our country illegally daily. Solve that problem first.

Did you even read your quote?

"Clinton was weakened by scandal...... election weeks away." Nice Democratic leadership. Get blown in the oval office and make a national scandal of it. Then... fail to follow up with the best course of action for our country because of political concerns for Democratic power.

I want leadership that worries more about my safety, more than their own party ambitions. Find me a leader like that! One 4 year term with them would be better than 8 with any compromised leadership (Dem or Rep).

Since 9/11, America has not been attacked. That is credit to the Bush administration. Numerous plots have been foiled and I'm sure there are many more that we don't even know about. No matter what Bush's other failings may haven been, in this one respect, America will keep the trust of the GOP in the White House.

i don't believe so.

and had his administration not failed horribly, we would have never been attacked.

any decent prez should have been able to keep us safe before and after 9/11, i see no reason to praise the man

to quote the man, he said he was "tired of swatting flies". when all he'd done was cruise through the first several months of his administration then take a long vacation.
