They say that 'blood is thicker than water' but there must be lots of things thicker than blood... I mean you should meet my sister - heck!

I guess it comes down to that rather simple question 'what is love'.

When I love, it is unchanging e.g. I still love my ex loads... I believe it is the same in her in feelings for me.... we just don't get on (or like each other much of the time). But my love for her doesn't change. I think often it is too easy to think of love as all the nice parts which happen near the begining of a relationship....

So to answer your question... I don't think it ever goes away but how much you like the person differs greatly, and the two are very much connected when it comes to the feelings we have.

going back to magnets and forces I was reading the other day about how every once in a while, the poles reverse. In that the planet's magnetic poles reverse polarity (i.e. Compass needles that have always pointed north would point south). Which is often the technique used to date ancient objects..... Think how weird that would be if it were to happen. Would it destroy life on the planet - I don`t know.

These reversals apparently happen roughly every 250,000 years - so you may think we are OK. But if you consider that it's been over 700,000 years since the last reversal.....eek.

I imagine being out in Irag brings many things into perspective for a person... it is a bit more of a life and death kinda day than what I am used to in the office.....

Perhaps you left a mark on him - he views you very fondly.

Alot of guys will say those things and then not mean much by it... but not all of us are without feeling and intent.

While I liked msmyka's last post... perhaps also contemplate what you would want if he did call... don't go all putty in his hands.... know your boundaries and your intentions.

You are not an idiot - plain and simple. Just normal.

perhaps a 'fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me' approach?

yes, I think the phrase "give some one an inch and they will take a yard" is so true.

It is unfortunate but it seems to be human nature for some...

When there's a single thief, it's robbery. When there are a thousand thieves, it's taxation. ~Vanya Cohen

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

CS Lewis.

Those darn do-gooders. Get me a good (or less bad) dictator any day of the week!

that is how it used to work... although I think the words 'based on suitability' were used...

they make most of their money from individuals just maintaining their debt levels (repayment of interest component) with only small amounts usually repaying the loan itself etc..

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

Thomas Jefferson, (Attributed)
3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)

we will never learn... banks make most of their money now from lending it to people that can't afford to pay it back... get them into the system... what with the changes in bankcruptacy laws... who says slavery is dead...

20 people die from the Swine flu and thousands are walking around with masks!
How many people have died from Aides and NOBODY wants to wear a condom?
[/quote

Very true!!

It is a good point. Although one thing to consider - and perhaps the reason for the unrest - is that the last world flu epidemic (1919) killed around 20 million people. Higher than the amount that actually died in World War 1 (which was going on at the time and they think largely responsible for the flu virus moving between countries/people etc...)

Although tragic, there is some humour in nature dealing a more deathly blow on us all collectively (with no bias) than what we do on each other (with bias and intent). I am just waiting for someone to solve all the worlds problems ... then see a huge natural disaster wiping us all out.

I think a more wholistic and longer term view of the world is needed to help change the state of things.

It is funny how much money is spent in the enforcment side of the government compared to the support side. Personally, I think most of the worlds social problems are created (ultimately) as a result of the treatment at the individual level of children. In that their path shapes who they are etc... Why not implement policies to start there and tackle the issues from age dot.

What I find interesting is how the government is all about involvement these days. And intervention.

When was there this sudden shift in the US away from the capalist principles to a more socialist view? Or has it always been there just waiting for the right figure-head
