I can't believe I nearly missed out on an entire thread of thinly veiled sexual innuendos about HMontana!
Got home just in time to help with the admonishing! |

Completely agreed...HFC is not only what makes everything so unhealthy, but it also makes everything too damn sweet. Americans need to learn how to live without their damn soda.

The faces all around me they don't smile, they just crack.
Waiting for our ship to come, but our ship's not coming back. We do our time like pennies in a jar. What are we saving for? There's a smell of stale fear that's reeking from our skins. The drinking never stops because the drinks absolve our sins. We sit and grow our roots into the floor. But what are we waiting for? So give me something to believe. Cause I am living just to breathe. And I need something more. To keep on breathing for. So give me something to believe. Something's always coming you can hear it in the ground. It swells into the air with the rising, rising sound And never comes but shakes the boards and rattles all the doors. What are we waiting for? So give me something to believe. Cause I am living just to breathe. And I need something more. To keep on breathing for. So give me something to believe. I am hiding from some beast, but the beast was always here. Watching without eyes, because the beast is just my fear That I am just nothing. Now its just what I've become. What am I waiting for? Its already done. So give me something to believe. Cause I am living just to breathe. And I need something more. To keep on breathing for. So give me something to believe. - Believe, by The Bravery |

In my experience it's whomever you are married/hooked to that you have to remind every once in a while that you aren't stupid. Excellent observation, I completely agree. |

How about Karma then? I think that Karma is nature's way of showing us that we have really selective cognition. My point being that people pay attention when the "rules" of Karma seem to be met, but ignore the fact that more often than not, the "rules" don't actually play out. |

I can see what you mean. That could likely be the very key to differences of opinion. I'm certain that it is. What I'm more curious about is the people who believe that everything happens for a reason, but not in a way that's related to a deity figure. |

I believe God has put people into my path. I believed that with the people I came to know during his illness and death, I believe that with friends that have come into my life since, and I believe that the path, odd as it was, was made way to meet someone special. Now, we did make a conscience choice to put ourselves in the same place that caused the meeting, but what are the odds of that? I personally believe that the odds aren't particularly convincing, but my initial premise for not believing that things happen for a reason was that I didn't believe in a higher power. Assuming belief in a higher power, it becomes much more reasonable (almost necessary) to think that everything happens for a reason. |
