Is there REALLY such a thing as a selfless act? I mean think about this... even the most innocent, thoughtful, caring, giving gestures are done for some sort of personal gain.. even if it is just that warm fuzzy feeling.. self gratification.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I totally agree with you.

If you give a desperate friend your last penny it doesn't feel too warm and fuzzy, but necessary non-the-less.

I believe in random acts of kindness... they do exsist in

Especially- if the person has no intention of doing it to make them self feel better...

I can't agree with you on this one.

I disagree as well. Many times people do things instinctually and are not aware that it might make them feel good about themselves later. It just feels right, or it is so quick thereis no time to ponder, just react. There is no personal gain in doing what you instinctually feel is right.

For example.. the person with the full arms behind you when you open the door. You see them only out of the corner of your eye and you turn around and hold the door open. I would do it only because it just seemed naturally right, the golden rule. Not because I expected a thank you or so I could type it in here one day.

There are MANY, with no gain EXPECTED.

I live to up-lift others, but NOTHING EXPECTED in return?

ok, i'll answer this one honestly since you seem to think everybody is out for themselves in sort of way....

i deal with my ex so my son can still have his mother at least what little mother he has. i get nothing from her in any way shape or form. i collect no child support, we don't speak, we're not friendly to each other, i have absolutely no use for her in any way shape or form. we fight constantly, we have nothing nice to say to each other, i have to deal with seeing the woman who cheated on me and walked out on her family for a weekend peice of ass. she see's him strictly because he has a right to know his mother.

what do i gain from this situation? i do it only for him...
