I believe a person should ask the person they want to hold hands with for the first time.

I think its a show of healthy respect for a persons boundaries.

Maybe I'm wrong...what do you think?

is that something u ask to do..or something that just kinda happens?
Its like asking someone to kiss them..I mean if u have to ask..is that Chemistry even there?

To me, holding hands is really more of a third date activity.

That said, one should still ask. I agree.

Hi Cinderella. Pumpkin got back safely I see.

I think asking is kind of nice. And, yes it does show respect for boundarie's. It give's the person reason to think more about it after, and the opportuninty to dwell on it therfore, perhap's creating more chemistry.

Offering a hand and giving that question mark smile is asking enough for me.

What if you're not feeling it? Then you're obligated without choice.

How do you refuse any differently than if they just take it though? Both awkward situations really. ohwell

All of these issues would be easy to tackle if people were a little more perceptive about picking up body language signals.

You always have a choice though. It's hard to hurt someone by saying "no." However, you've gotta' suck it up and do it.

...like when Cinderella turned down my offer to be lead singer of my garage band called "Hot Chick and Old Guys."

Ya, I agree here...

Besides no one likes a wussy...either take it with authority, or sit there looking pitiful.

I just say, "I'm really not in the hand holding mood tonight." I don't feel a need to make sure he knows that he's the reason that I'm not. frown Why ruin his evening?

I guess you think that makes me a whimp? ohwell

What's the prognosis? Breathing treatments necessary?

Ya, I had one yesterday, but I have one for at home, that should hopefully be it.

I don't mind holding hands on the first date, or even kissing, you can tell it's ok just by looking in their eyes, if the glow isn't there then I wouldn't do it..

You'll be fine.

Have the tort law wheel spinning on this one or what? It seems actionable to me.

I'm not big on it but you should be recompensed and "made whole" for lost time, et al.

I'm good with that. The unstated question has always been evident enough to me. But if my body language is misread, I prefer a subtle retreat. If I just don't know them well enough yet, I'd hate to insult them. Even if I knew it would never happen, I don't want to hurt feelings if I don't have to. Makes me sad to stomp someones feelers. frown

You know I think it should be asked aslo...I just met someone from here and he had the decently to ask if he could kiss me first.....That shows me there is respect for me and they didn't want to over step that line..
