Topic: What put me in a great mood

the term "spare the rod, spoil the child" comes from the Good Book and look at our kids today...i am a more firm believer in the "Dobson pinch" a parent just needs to have the childs undivided attention...jmo My daughter would throw fits, usually not in public, but sometimes, When she did that, I made her stare at my nose until she stopped crying or tantruming. she would eventually calm down, and then I could talk to her, this works for hiccups too by the way.

I see nothing wrong with what happened, she wasnt abusing the kid, got his complete attention (lol) and dealt accordingly to the situation. My mother mastered the look, and so did I so only had to go thru a similar situation when my daughter was younger, but the look works wonders and stops others from judging you

Well as I said the store was packed (remember this is tourist season so our population grows several hundred thousand a week) and after she popped the kid on the behind you could sense the peoples reaction around her. Older people had a look of approval while younger people just stared as if she had just shot the kid.

It is sad, but what would be worse: lettting the child run amuck or getting the child to behave and learn what is acceptable and what is not acceptable????????????????

I was in Wal-Mart yesterday evening and the store I go to is always packed with people. Anyway I'm standing in the check out line from hell and in front of me is a woman with 3 small children. One of them is throwing a fit for a toy. He's screaming "I want it I want it" She keeps calmly saying "No honey not today" He's screaming louder "I WANT IT" and she still has the same calm voice. Now I am looking around for another line to get into cause this kid is driving me nuts. Then the mother grabs some candy bars and hands this little hellion one. He throws is. She calmly reaches down and takes the little boy by the arm. Pulls him closer to her and POW! She slapped that kid right across the ass. Shot heard round the world. I see her gritting her teeth as she whispers something in his ear and I never heard another word out of him. I was in a great mood the rest of the day soooo go ahead and shoot me. When it comes to kids I say "Bus dat ass" Have a good day all Thank God FINALLY a parent who knows how to put a stop to fits like that!

I wonder what she whispered in his ear!!!! Was it that she was gonna spank him again if he muttered another word? I have seen a few children in stores I wanted to bust the parents butt for allowing the child to act this way.

I'm sure he did not take actual joy in a child being hit, but rather a child that was unruly being put in line. I'm pretty sure, he would have rather not seen any of it... but I'd hate to speak for him... you know how I hate expressing myself...
