I have a dilemma that I'd love some help with. Serious help with this please!

My spiritual organization goes to camp every summer. This year, the camp has a pool that will be open for night swimming. The problem is that we can't have a bunch of drunks trying to swim. We're looking for a way to monitor those seeking entrance to the pool area. There is cocktail hour before dinner and then the beer tap is open all night after dinner. The committee has decided that after two or more drinks, people can't go swimming. Any ideas how to monitor this? We have a meeting of the camp committee this weekend and I'd love to have some ideas to put forth. Thanks!

Have them sign an agreement explaining the 2-3 drink rule and have a statement in there reliving you of any liability shall they break this agreement

sounds like catholic summer camp drinking, beer, skinny dipping,

what are trying to protect them from...themselves????

2 drinks is stupid.....sounds like there are many efficient livers in your holy organization.....i'd increase the limit based on their BMI

well if they are abviously drunk..then they should not be allowed in I guess..but umm 2 drinks for one person just not even having a buzz can mean a totally intoxicated person for someone else who consumes it..then again..what kind of drinks..alcoholic beverages have different alcohol contents..and that given w/ how different people metabolize alcohol..it all just depends..I would say have a guard there and the obvious intoxicated people are not allowed in..i think its unfair though to put a limit on it..

The only safe way is to have everyone sign a release, which makes YOU legally not responsible. Otherwise you'd have to have a breathalyzer.

tell everyone they must wear their bathing suit under shorts and a t-shirt. First drink, they have to hand over the t-shirt, second drink, their shorts...if they are naked, they can't go into the pool area. bigsmile

I gotta ask...

1. what kind of spiritual organization is this?

2. they aren't adult enough to know when they are too drunk to be in a swimming pool?

3. how old are these people?

4. how do I join? laugh

Hire a bouncer for the gate! Get a rock band! Throw a wet t-shirt contest! What happens at the pool, stays at the pool! nGo to mass in the morning and pray for forgiveness!

Very good....however, if everyone imbibes enough they'll all be swimming nekkid before the night is over...

so, this brings me back to my list of questions...

how do I join????

Everyone will have to sign a liability waiver. The problem is that it's a children's camp the rest of the year, so we have to protect the camp owner from potentially losing the license for the camp.

It is a good thing you have a book to tell you not to judge, and thank you for your judgment.

This sounds more like a "spirits" camp for parents without kids at the hip!
