My kid won a Quran at an international festival about a year ago. I don't think she's read it much, but they do teach Islam in school along with some other religions, which is odd considering they aren't allowed to mix church and state. Anyway, I digress....
I don't think you're going to find anything about "death to all infidels" in there. flowerforyou

It has a number of contradictory passages, just as the Christian Bible, or any other religious text that adheres to the concept of a "Sky Daddy" rather than philosophical rationalization of existence (Taoist Philosophy for example).

Islam does a much better job of handling this however. Since it is generally a linear and intact document (as opposed to the Christian texts which are composites and not chronologically delineated), latter doctrine is said to override the former, as "Allah reveals his wisdom in stages".

You can review the scripture taken most often as the source of Islam's violent tendencies- Surah 9:5. Keep well in mind that there are any number of chapters and verses in the Bible that admonish one to stone victims of rape, dash babies against stones, and describe instances in which Yahweh ordered the complete genocide of heathen tribes. It all depends on the greater context and ends up being a pot, kettle, black routine.

Religion, like nuclear weapons, and plague is a weapon of mass coercion that needs to be carefully held in check, lest the devious use it against weaker minds to accomplish their own ends.

The Koran has three distinct thoughts on Kuffar (nonbelievers).

At the beginning of the Koran, Muslims are told to live peacefully with Kuffar and try to befriend them.

In the middle of the Koran, Muslims are told to abide Kuffar, but not befriend them.

At the end of the Koran, Muslims are told to kill and subjugate Kuffar.

So depending on which section of the Koran you are reading, you will get a different message.

Tried reading it but found it tough going. Didn't get to the parts about the infidels.

In other words, it's just as inconsistent as the Bible.

That makes a lot of sense since they both arose from the same Mediterranean folklore.

I haven't read the Quran but I've heard that it contains a lot of the same stories, people, and events, as the Bible except with slightly different twists and morals to the stories.

I used to have a link to a website that shows the similarities between the two. I found it funny when I was researching that, because if you go to a Christian site to see the differences the Christians would point out all the bad stuff in the Quran and all the good stuff in the Bible when they compared them. But if you go to an Isamic site, you'd see just the opposite. laugh

Then when you go to an independent site you'd see that book doctrines are inconsistent and both have good and bad stuff in them pretty much equally.
