Ok so I know alot of people who don't like gay/les people because they think it's wrong because it say on the bible it's wrong.

When I was in high school alot of kids would talk about having sex, over the weekend...or making plans of having parties with no parents around, ya'll know for what right...

Then on other days they would bring up the "gay" word and start talkin' about gay people sayin, how they're gonna go to hell, how it's wrong, because it says on the bible,...etc....

But having sex before marriage is wrong to, right.

Dosen't that say on the bible 2.

I'm agnostic, but I know it does say that both practices are wrong. I dunno the reference for pre-marital sex, but I know the one about homosexuality is in Leviticus 18:22

It's ok if your gay dude/dudette,Perhaps it's you that is not ok with it since you are looking to justify it by comparing it to premarital sex. Watch the Discovery Channel, supposingly they found evidence of UFOs in the Bible as well!

I don't know anywhere in the bible where it says sex is wrong. I know what the Catholic Church teaches, but don't remember it being anywhere in the bible.

However, I know what you are talking about as far as gay goes. It is in Leviticus.

Not saying that it is right for people to say this. Just talking about my knowledge of the Bible.

The first lesson you need to learn in life is that religious people are often hypocrites. Especially people who tend to believe in the Bible.

The bible itself is hypocritical.

Jesus taught to forgive, and supposedly came to be the sacrifice of forgiveness. Yet he also said that many will claim to know him but he will not recognize them.

What kind of 'forgiveness' is that? ohwell

Clearly the God in the Bible is not trustwrothy. flowerforyou

I think Feral Cat posted something about sexual relations from the Bible.

Sexual relations outside of marriage is a sin. Homosexuality just like incest are all sins according to God's word as outlined in the Bible.

You are correct. Just because kids are doing all sorts of things (which BTW, includes drugs) it doesn't make it right & they are sins. The Bible says not to be drunk on wine or involved with all sorts of debauchery etc etc.

Don't listen to some of the nonsense by those who don't believe in the Bible. Consider the source when reading your replies if you are looking for answers.

BTW...I'm not here to judge but to answer your questions.

God bless...

... and listening to hypocritical rubbish like this from someone who thinks its ok to steal will get you even more confused than you started with.

As a guide, do not look in the bible, do what you feel is right.

You are an individual with thought processes like the majority on here.

What do you think right now on this subject?

Never let it be said that Abra is one to pass judgement on anyone. "Religious people are often hypocritical - because they are judgemental"!?

Hypocrite.

Let's see you talk yourself out of this one.

There's nothing to take out of. laugh

Judgments in a biblical sense are judgments of SIN.

MORAL judgments!

I make no moral judgments by pointing out their hypocricies.

When did I ever say that it is immoral to be a hypocrite?

laugh

Let there be no doubt about it that religious people who use the name of Jesus Christ to pass judgments on their fellow man are indeed hypocrites.

I was only responding to what the OP stated:

Then on other days they would bring up the "gay" word and start talkin' about gay people sayin, how they're gonna go to hell, how it's wrong, because it says on the bible,...etc....

I was just responding to, and commenting on what was presented in the OP.

If you want to grab that as a blanket to pull over yourself, that's your action, not mine. smokin

I would agree that there can very well be an element of hypocrisy as it relates directly to Christianity. This point was actually brought up on another thread just recently (not in religion section). Of course I’m not making the claim that ALL Christians feel that they have the right and in fact responsibility to judge others, but there are definitely those who can feature themselves as morally superior in some capacity and they can very well hide behind a veil of piousness. I wonder what these statements mean to Christian peoples exactly on a personal level and how are they being utilized in their day to day lives.

"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 6:14-15)

"For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you." (Matthew 7:2)

1. Pointing out what God's word says is not being judgemental.

Not everything said is being judgemental...except in the minds of people.

You are correct of course. When it gets too heated it's not good for any Christian's glory glow. It is then time to end the discussion.

That's fair enough and I understand it would be open to interpretation; however, the concern can come into play when one individual takes it upon themselves to assume moral superiority in some respect. We have seen throughout history in fact when this has caused problems.

I think we might also get that expression in the English language "People who live in glass houses should not throw rocks." or something along those lines from an understanding of scripture perhaps. I’m just guessing however. happy

That's an illustration of Christian intolerance that extends to gays and lesbians.

Yes well like I said... when it starts to get ugly it's time to bow out. It's not worth fighting over. It's about sharing faith & showing love which is not easy on a BBS.

Well I would hope some of that love would take into account what another's life experiences might have entailed before immediately taking the perceived moral high ground and presuming to find it acceptable to judge your fellow humans (male and female). This would cause one to rely on introspection (your own fallacy) rather than on total projection.

Jesus said let he who is without sin throw out the first stone. I think that pretty much takes everyone on here out of the picture of being able to cast judgement on someone else for their beliefs.

Sin is primarily used in a religious context, therefore if one does not believe in any religion, they likely don't believe in the concept of sin.

The question was asked in the religious chat under the topic bible question so I think the quote applies.
