Ironic that one gets angry about something being done to them when they've participated in doing to others the very same thing.

Your irony is unfounded. I'm not angry.

Oh where is our friend Dan when we need his "inane drivel", which most of the time makes everyone laugh! Overall what does it matter how many pages, who posts where, or whether all are thought provoking. Not everyone has the same interest, nor is every one at the place at the same time.

HEY! My threads arent inane drivel! Do i have to bump my 'fish' thread to prove it?! lol!

Most threads that do reach 50 pages(and ALL threads that reach part 50 or higher) are full of inane drivel. Thats not to say that within the threads there isnt at least some half decent discussion or chitchat, just most of it. I would probably describe it and 'idle chit-chat' rather than inane drivel. I cant for the life of me understand why so many people want to hug and say hello(and goodbye and how are you etc) to each and every person in the thread, but i guess its up to them. Personally i would rather my threads die on page 1, than get full up with this crap.

Most intelligent discussion cannot go on for so long, without things getting repeated over and over. Many discussions will have reached the end way before 50 pages. Also, imagine you join a subject 30 pages in, do you really wanna read all those pages to know whats going on? I often pass on threads that i dont catch early enough.

Sometimes the threads go on and on and on, merely because the OP refuses to let them die. Anyone could keep on bumping their thread and it will eventually go the distance.

But, is it really any acheivement to fill up a thread, or 100 threads? I would say that it is not any kind of acheivement at all(unless you do it on your very first thread, like i did! lol!).

I have always argued that dating site forums should mainly be about fun. So stupidity and inane drivel kinda fit in here. The whole point is that people are talking to eachother, making friends, and finding love. If anyone wants some actual intelligent discussion, find a forum that has another purpose.

I only come here to relax.
I'm very picky in which threads I post, though I do read most of them (Those that seem worth reading anyway). There is too much fighting and name calling in politics or religions, though I like these best for the sake of widening my horizon.
Also I'm on at times when half of America is either just gone to bed, or at work, and they all post when I'm in bed and not lookingohwell
But I see a lot of people here that just come to chat with their friends, and I think that perfectly ok. People looking from the outside really see the friendlyness there, which is a good thing for mingle, isn't it?

I think it's interesting to see that some people seem to take umbrage at the term "inane drivel."

"Inane drivel" is not a bad thing. It's inane, yes; it's drivel, yes.

So is much of life.

I have learned some new things today....

If you look at the majority of the threads there are good topics with serious questions and interesting subjects where someone can use is gray matter and there are the fun ones and the stupid ones, each as its part and its usefulness.

What gets me is the people that do not know where a silly remarks or a smart ass answer goes there are threads for that and then there are threads for intelligent answers and support advice, would hope that people sometimes use better judgment.

Wow, I read entire thread. That is a first, OP I like to come onto the forums and have fun, and I enjoy laughing and making others laugh.

Did you ever think that the reasons threads do not make it to 50 pages is that people take things too seriously. Some think they are too smart for topics, some think others are just plain stupid or not on their level, some get offended by opposing views, some get berated for expressing an opposing view, some just chose not to participate, some feel they and only their way is the right way, and others like myself express my views and opinions with a twist of humor.

You can have titillating conversation and fun at the same time by respecting all members. jmo tongue2

Nothing against funny or smart ass comments on the contrary as long as it stays with the subject of the thread, thats all.

Some of the "inane drivel" threads are really just a group of people hanging out and chitchatting. Very few are exclusive, anyone who wants to drop in and chat is free to do so. While the original title of the post might seem frivolous, for some reason it stuck, usually because of the people involved and not the topic.

Might want to check some of them out, you might be surprised and maybe make a few new friends flowerforyou

right! They are many chat threads where people come in and say hi to their friends. They are also a good way for people to chat and try to get to know those that they wish to maybe date. There is no pressure talking on the forums.

If I message a guy back and forth that might imply more than I am ready to imply. If I chat with a guy on the forums it doesn't imply as much. Chats threads also let you get to see how a potential boyfriends behaves with others.

All due respect, I'm not looking for any potential boyfriends.

I am, however, curious as to what the attraction is for threads such as, "Why does my left big toe hurt and my right elbow itch when I take a dump?"

Example: If i ask a question like "What is the meaning of life for you" and someone answer "Farting" then I fine that useless but if the same person answers "Farting... when I get up and then working my ass off to bring the best for my love and children" then he/she is funny and also at least answered my question.

Just my humble opinion if I am allowed to say it.

According to recent threads, "hot" is too subjective.

What I may think is "hot", there are others who may not.

Hey, that rhymed.

I'm not either, although considering the way I'm treated by the women around here, maybe I should think about it.

The secret ingredient is "tomato paste."

It helps you reassemble your tomatoes.

Here's one reason threads go bust is because the OP no longer participates.

Another reason, the subject has been discussed a number of times (inane drivel) winking

Wishful thinking, sorry. I'm still here, I've just been watching to see where this would go, if anywhere. I do beg your pardon if this subject has been discussed before. I looked, but I did not see any such topic already posted, so I figured it was 'safe ground'.

Here's the thing: I made a tongue-in-cheek question (albeit a legitimate question), and many people just twisted it around to suit their own agenda, like it was a personal attack on them or something. Their claws came out in defense. By and large, my half-hearted query was met with ridicule, contempt, condescension and mockery. That's okay, as it's of very little to no consequence to me, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. However, it taught me a very valuable education today (see? I'm always learning). All those people accomplished today was the reinforcement and validation of my inherent mistrust of strangers.

Thank you for all your answers. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

My response was not directed personally. I'm sorry if you misunderstood, just stating another reason why I have seen threads die.
