Overheard conversation...

Him: If I get really sick or something, I would leave you. I do not want to see the look in your eyes while you're having to take care of me.

Her: What? Don't I get a vote in this?

um.. you really think I don't love you that much... that the look in eyes would be bad?
or would you see the look of love in my eyes and how I'm hoping for the best?

For better or for worse - in sickness and health - if I make those promises, I will by all means stick to them if I ever make them.

If my husband were to be deathly ill, I'd want nothing more than to take care of him and spend as much time with him while I could. The man I marry will hopefully feel the same way should it be me that is dying.

don bash him he is jus tryin to think about her best interests maybe a little scewed but still, if he is really sick he don want her to have the pain of helping him wen hes helpless or watchin him die you no wat i mean

Ego-trip...careful or your ego will spill.

There's two sides of the coin with this, while yes some may not want the person they love to sit bedside while they die...the ego is far too powerful for that in most cases, so it comes down to a person just not wanting to be taken care of regardless of who takes care of them. As I said it is an ego-trip, the ego will not allow someone to care for it.

Yes, there are some out there that really don't want their significant other to watch them suffer...but for the most part it is an ego-trip.

The guy sounds pretty noble when he's healthy, but let's see what is his attitude should he hook up with the Big C.

Yes...I fully understand that concept...I took care of my Mom when she had terminal colon cancer... No matter how tired I was, I just kept saying to myself "It's an honor to do this"...

But I do wonder how it would be if it was my significant other. There's usually no dignity in death...I believe in respecting the other's wishes.

But doesn't the care-giver deserve a "vote", too? Can't the sick or dying person allow us the honor?

I kinda like it when I look into papersmile's eyes when she is taking care of me. She goes to dialysis with me and holds my hand the whole time

That "look in my eyes" would be the Unconditonal love I have for you, that you're seeing.

I would hate to see the girl i love suffering because i was ill, but then there is nobody else i would want to be there for me than her. At the end of the day we are planning a life together and we should be there to deal with all the hardships that come our way together.

Had a bad accident in 04, almost died....
had a wife leave during my rehab.
It's a tough call......people just dont understand the ramifications of the words they say or vow.....
some are just too selfish to give a chit!!!
