So today I went down to the childrens hospital to see an allergy specialist for my son.

We found out that he is allergic to egg and peanuts and tree nuts in general. This sucks about the egg thing, cause almost every single thing is made with egg in some way. I came home and looked at everything in my freezer, and all of it had some sort of egg ingrediant.

It scared me knowing about the peanut thing, as I have heard horror stories. We do now have an epi-pen jr.

Anyone have any tips or recipes about these food allergies?

Did the doc say whether or not you can use egg substitute for home-made meals? The peanut thing isn't shocking, but egg??? I would definitely stay away from any store bought cookies. They tend to use peanut oil a lot for those. So does Chick-Fil-A for all their cooking.

I'm allergic to both eggs and peanuts too. I stay completely away from anything that has peanuts or peanut oil in it, even if it was packaged in a factory that uses peanuts in their products.

As for the eggs, I can only eat stuff that uses the egg to bind, like in a cake or cookie mix, stuff like that. Eggs in general, and things like Lasagna or manicotti, I can't eat at all. I can't even use the egg substitute stuff.

You have to be careful with egg allergies. Some immunizations have egg in them. So you might have to remind your doctor/nurse if he is getting a shot.

My son was tested and came up with very similar results and the results changed every year and he currently eats everything they said he was allergic to over the years... it's more guesswork than anything else unless he has extreme reactions to a particular food and you can't be sure unless you do a process of elimination since the scratch tests are only one step up from a wild guess. We even did blood tests which prooved to be wrong over the years. The list is huge but over the years he as been determined to be allergic to eggs, wheat, corn, peanuts and shrimp all of which he eats today with no problems.

I can't get the flu shot because of my allergy to eggs.

Thanks ya'll. I'm assuming he is very allergic to these things since he has been constantly sick as hell for over a year. And this is why.

He can have egg replacer, but I just assume not give him anything to see if his sickness improves.

I need some kid friendly recipes, anyone have any websites?

He is up to date on his vaccines, but didn't know they had egg in them til today. Not sure what to do about the future ones.

They have egg free ones. His doctor just has to order them for him in advance, so if you make a doctors appointment and you know he will be getting shots; you might want to remind them that he needs shots that are egg free.

There are lots of website for egg and peanut-free recipes. Just do a google search. There should also be some parent support groups out there too, if you look hard enough.
