Why do people call it tuna fish? As opposed to a tuna horse? Tuna hamster? I mean everybody knows that a tuna is a fish. You wouldn't go to a restaurant and order salmon fish or flounder fish, would you?

comes from the Latin word for the specific type of fish "thunnus" eventual when differences in pronouciation lead to tunas and a single one was tuna so it was a tuna fish.

That makes it even more redundant. Like when people say ATM machine.

It didn't. All it did was make me hungry. I still don't know why people call it tuna fish...DUH...it's a freakin fish. So unless there are other animals with tuna in the name, there's really no need to specify.

I'll have the tuna goat with homefries and green beans.
