Hell, if not worse.

I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because of my "family" life.

Let me also add that it was a 2-parent household, and I have 4 siblings - and I have no real concept of what family love even is......

Definitely "Leave It To Beaver" Mom did not work outside the home and dinner was on the table when Dad got home. They have been married for 53 years. Still in love- no fights in our house- well at least none that we heard. It was a nice way to grow up.

Mine was similar. They always seemed to stick together with the important stuff. I always felt loved and safe.

Mine was like separate planets within the same solar system. Communication was rare, and often garbled.

I guess it affected me insofar as I've never had any real desire to be part of a standard "family unit," whatever that means.

Kinda a mixture of both cept my parents used a lotta drugs and my father played in a rock n roll cover band. Oh and we moved around like gypsies. So maybe less leave it to beaver now that I think about it. Seemed normal to me at the time anyway.

My parents both worked second shift, so we were pretty much left with babysitters.

And those babysitters were whack jobs. I could tell you some stories. Probably why I'm so anal about not leaving my kids with strangers, now.

When we were all together, we got along.

i'm not sure if the fighting affected me, but the be being alone all of the time did. my parents were grooming me from an early age to be independent and responsible. i would blame both of those reasons for most of who i am today and most of why i'm still single.
