I think they're crap. Pure, unadulterated crap.

Just kidding. They're awesome. I'm thinking about buying an Aurora, added random stuff of course. I think it came to $2,500 something. Is it worth it? Or would I be able to get a cheaper just-as-good computer at Best Buy?

Basically, is it worth wasting my entire fast-food salary on one?

Just really depends on what your going to be using your computer for.

Gaming sure then it's worth it. If it's just basic stuffing the net and listing to music then no it's not worth it. You can go get a good HP or Dell or even go to Best buy and get a good pc. But be careful going to Best Buy because if your not sure what your wanting and how much your really wanting to spend, as well as knowing a bit much about Pc's there gonna try and rip you off. Just a head's up.

Because when I had pc problems a while back and tired to get Best Buy to look at my system, they would have nearly ripped me off if I didn't know what I do know about computers and all, not to mention a little help from a family memeber.

I'm a big World of Warcraft player, but I know a decent desktop can run it. I wanna start playing other MMOs too. Maybe even Unreal Tourney 3...dunno yet, I suck at FPS...

So, yeah, definately games.

Yeah.. so there you go then, go with Alienware.

Then again you could probably find something else for a bit less then the price of $2,500.. who knows for sure until you look around a bit more.

I can build a computer that will blow the doors off any alienware computer (have to in order to edit 500MB files in photoshop and HD vid edits lol) at under 3/4 the price without trying. If you know someone that's computer literate in that way, have them put one together for you. You'll get exactly what you need and won't be paying for a name. Otherwise, I haven't found much in that arena straight off the shelf that can beat them.

Alienware builds good computers... If you want to pay at least four times what it would cost you to build your own. laugh

(Sorry, not a Dell Guy)

However, Alienware is a very awesome computer whether you are gaming or not, however if your not a gamer, you probably have no desire to spend that kind of money on a System...

Plus they look cool.

and Johncenawlife316 You are going to the wrong BB, my friend, some do suck. I am a manager in one in So Cal, and have a very good rep. Sorry, had to represent.

You can build a pretty awesome computer that is comparable for under $1000. I built my computer a year ago for only $600. Could play Oblivion on Ultra High with no lag at all. :D

I say go the Newegg route. Prices are really cheap right now due to the recession.

Huzzah for computer literate people! See, I know nothing about the hardware, I just know stuff like "I want that to look pretty".

there are really good websites out where you build your own PC, part by part.

Look at this site:

I think you had it right to begin with :P

I am not a fan of alienware or their prices. Most people pay for the name just so they can brag to their friends.

Check Newegg.com for sure. I love that place with a passion. I've bought computer parts, TVs, monitors, the works and they are very reliable.

Alienware is now owned by Dell, and they are way to overpriced. Even if you don't build your own computer with newegg.com or similar site, there's more cost efficient options. MMORPG's aren't known to be real demanding on graphix cards so there's no need to get a top of the line gaming pc if that's the most demanding. Eve Online which to me has the best graphics of all MMORPG's will run on an ATI X750 with 128 MB which is from 2004. So be smart about things.
