I just saw the movie "Alive" again recently. Great movie! I think it's in my top 5. Was interesting how they went from "no way" to eventual acceptance that it was the only solution.

Religion of course played a part and one argument was "If our soul goes to heaven after death, then your body is simply a hunk of flesh." Correct. I'd have done it too. It would have helped that the bodies were frozen.

Other interesting parts are how they all got serious about praying every night (even though they were saying the rosary, I think God honored their faith). All except one guy who said he was agnostic. Every night they asked him to pray with them and every time he said no. Except one night when they heard an avalanche - then he prayed. No atheists in foxholes?

It was a very spiritual movie overall. One guy started crying a lot they others asked him what was wrong "I just feel so close to God". He said.

One guy had a dream of a green valley the night before the party left to hike out for help. He knew they were going to be succesful, against incredible odds.

I have no doubt that it was their faith in God that got them through. How many of you think you'd be able to survive a situation like that without faith?

I worked as a Red Cross worker for 15 years and have been shot by guerilla fighters in Congo once. One bullet hit my kneecap that went through my door of the truck. I was very lucky to have survived this as they truly wanted the truck and its goods. I managed to get away. At the time I didn't think of any god. I was simply thinking of getting away as fast as possible. Luckily they were on foot!

In the end my decision has helped me stay alive and not praying hoping for the best outcome.

One doesn't have to believe in a god to live a good life or to get out of dire situations. One doesn't have to worship anything to be a good example for mankind. One can live a great life helping others to the best of your ablity without having to represent a organization of anykind.

I am a living witness that has done so and has helped many people with little or nothing around the world in the career that I once very much enjoyed.

So yes in the end sitting around praying for anything will not save your life. You actually have to do something to get out of tough situations.

Now if praying, meditating, or whatever technic one uses to stay sane and in control of ones mind is necessary then I would prefer the person does this before he goes insane in dire situations. There is nothing worse then a crazy man who can't take lifes pressure standing around you panicking. Yes I have experienced that also in my lifetime from a comrade and it doesn't help you in dire situations at all.

I would rather die than eat someone.

Would You Eat Someone In Order To Survive?

questions like this are always hard for my to answer, partly because there are really a lot of factors involved, and, because all we are doing is answering hypothetically, and we won't ever know the true answer until we are put in that situation.

I would like to think if I survived whatever instance lead to the dilemma as one of the healthier ones, and there was a strong chase of rescue, I probably would eat someone else in order to survive.
I can't really see myself doing it for a maybe, though.

lol

if i walked into a restaurant and they had 'human' on the menu - i'd try it
meat is meat
(granted - i want meat on a stick or plate --> i do not want a face looking back at me)

now the question really should be - "would you kill anyone so you could eat them to survive?"

Oh and without faith in God I would not of been able to survive a situation like that. Without faith in God I would of lost my mind by now and probably ended it.

WITHOUT FAITH...IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD!!! WITH FAITH...ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE....FOR ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE.

GOD BLESS!~

Key word is "SURVIVAL"

NO ONE KNOWS what they will do, when the chips are really down.

I would SURVIVE.

Scripture says choose life. Daniel was making a statement. Kosher food was available. But you do what you have to for survival if it does not mean the demise of another.

Like lets say the religions where they believe to just pray and no drs. Many parents have let thier children die who do not really have a voice in the matter. Did they choose life? Is not all available means of survival given to us? Choose life when it comes to a physical means choose Spiritual Life when it comes to a Spiritual means...Blessings...Miles

only the thigh or rump roast of a female for me laugh

on a serious note, one does not know what they are capable or not capable of until something like that happens. The instinct for survival is stronger in some than in others.

census takers are sooooooo annoying, they try to make you think you HAVE to answer their questions, can't wait till this time around to mess with them and refuse to answer any thing they ask, make them quit tresspassing, such fun.

We daily consume the flesh of animals that I am sure would have preferred to live if they had had a voice, though I guess screaming doesn't count.

And we have a moral problem with eating the flesh of a dead human being? If find that a bit odd from that point of view. Yes it would make me wince, but only because some meat gags me anyway, but to stay alive I would have no problem with it.

I have been near death twice in my life and neither time did I think about a god or what would happen after death even though I had the time to. What ever is going to happen is going to happen regardless. That's the way I look at it. I have lived my life as best I can, I don't fear whats after death, I would be more afraid of idiots killing be before I am ready to die.
