For some reason I went through my mutual matches... (Pats, I KNOW!!!)

All I can say is this:

If you describe yourself as laid back..... when I meet you or talk to you I learn this means LAZY.

If you describe yourself as easy going..... when I meet you or talk to you I learn this means APATHETIC.

If you describe yourself as a nice guy...... when I meet you or talk to you I learn this means resentful, you give with the expectations of receiving (as in everything is quid pro quo), and you are anything but nice.

So, dudes, STOP trying to describe yourself in terms as specific as as mud and learn who you are...

"I'M HONEST AND DIRECT" usually means you're dealing with a paranoid who questions every thing you say and reads negative intent into every word that comes out of your mouth. Usually also means that she's free to be honest *about* you - you are not free to be honest *about* her.

In short, "I can dish it out - but I can't take it". This equates to someone who believes his or her own hype (self-image) instead of how others perceive them. "People think I'm great"!

I see this, in some form or another, on 92.7% of all profiles I view.

The proper form is "I'm laid back and easy going," in that particular order. There was a lawsuit filed several years ago against a person who wrote "easy going and laid back," thereby causing severe head trauma to over 400 people throughout the US and Canada.

When I see the "laid back and easy going" line used (we in the trade refer to it as LBEG, or "ell-beg," by the way; just one of the convenient and fun pseudo-acronyms we like to use to make ourselves feel superior), I automatically assume that the person has simply seen this same formula on 100,000 prior profiles and has stolen it, rather than bother to think up anything original.



The one I'm seeing about 118% of the time now is "I like to see the glass as half full." This is about as original and as useful as saying "A penny saved is a penny earned."
