yea smack her across the face repeatedly in frustration and anger... that should lessen your "meanness" in her eyes...

LOL yea parenthood. If we had to actually go buy kids would anyone bother ;-)

I always get the "you always start an argument when I go to my mums"
answer "Stop running to your mums after you get a row then" LOL kids all that angst and no where to shovel it.

In all seriousness , if you daughter is old enough ,Maybe sitting her down at bill time , and showing her what is what , then asking her if she would rather not eat or have lights , so she can have that dope pair of shoes maybe enough to snap her to reality .

no need to send me emails calling my response rude...

i don't need to have children to understand that the concept of beating your children across the face for daring to call you "mean" is probably not the best idea in the world. this issue hits home for me from the other end of the stick.

mayhaps you could find yourself a pillow to punch if you want to "vent". bigsmile flowerforyou

kids will say hurtful things, but don't, even if you were just kidding, resort to something physically hurtful. they have to learn and until they do, it's better if you find a way to de-stress when it happens rather than do something you will regret. flowerforyou

My son only told me i was mean just once. I told him if he felt that way go find a better mother if he thought he could and while he was at it, find me a better son.... Never called me mean again

Maybe instead of all this neagtivity with your daughter, take the opportunity to teach her the value of money and hard work. If she wants something that badly, have her do extra chores around the house to earn the money to buy it herself. JMO

Welcome to motherhood. They'll call you mean, they'll say they hate you, they say all sorts of things. I understand stress, especially in the economy we're in right now, but threatening to smack her across the face "more than once" isn't going to solve anything.

Someone recommended a stress center, and I agree with that. Anything is better than taking your frustration out on her.

Hmmmmmmm.

Here's the thing. I never even joke about smacking my daughter around, but like Jasmine, I'm a little sensitive on that subject. When my daughter is frustrating me, I remove myself from the situation for ten minutes or so. I tell her that I'm putting myself on a time out, and go to my room for 10 minutes. I then come back and explain the situation calmly. I try to explain the situation as best I can, in terms she'll understand.

Kids rise to the occasion, a lot more than people give them credit for.

I still think you might want to check into the stress center. A friend of mine's mother runs one in Wisconsin, and they really do have fantastic programs, including support groups for women in your situation.

I went through this with my son. I even put him in counseling as he had a lot of anger towards me after the divorce, even though he was 2 when we split.

Believe it or not, and I have to remind myself alot....TAKE IT AS A COMPLIMENT!!! Your daughter (as with my son) knows no matter what, good or bad, thick or thin, your gonna still be there, you're going to still love her.. so she pushes you and pushes you. She is so comfortable in her realtionship with you, she knows you wont abandon her.

my son use to treat me bad( i did everything for that boy) and he idolized his father(who did nothing, not even visit but once every 2 weeks) But he didnt want to jeopardize, what little time he had with his father.

So even though it hurts, it is a complimentflowerforyou
