whatever happened to common sense these days we seem to want to believe now that the governtment and his highness mr barack obama is the cure all end all for our troubles these days. does anyone out there really believe that the country you live in is that evil? is not exceptional? is somehow worse than cuba or venezuela or even the sudan? have we come this far?

our personal liberties are being attacked everyday from a president who wants to destroy individualism. who attacks it at a speech at arizona state. this isnt who or what we are. the president should encourage us to be the best we can be and not what we shouldnt in the end ultimately we determine the fate of our lives not mr obama.

‘Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn’t always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended
from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an
abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I’m A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Great post!It seems to me that you have half the country who don't give a crap what freedom or rights are taken away and many of them even encourage it.They look at America as evil,a world dictator, and a country that should be punished. They typically hate our military, think the government should control everything, and think every nation in the world in better than ours.

Then you have the other side of the country. These people love our country and many of them are former military. They express their freedom to vote and freedom to free speach. The believe that the people not the government know what is best for our country. They typically keep current with politics and voting issues. They believe our country is the best on earth and second to no one. They want to see us succeed and not fail.

Where did all this absurd thinking come from? The Liberals!Anytime you get these stupid ideas and lawsuits they always come from one place. The ACLU and the Liberals. There is little doubt that if you could kick the ACLU and the Liberals off the planet this type of nonsense would cease.

You know...the ACLU is the organization that has been consistently the most responsible and diligent organization in the country for supporting and defending the Constitution.

Idiots unfortunately benefit from it's work.

Look in the mirror. You are an idiot.(I am using "you" to point not at an individual but at every poster on these boards.)

For those that have limited vision here is a little clue for you.

Have you ever seen the the figure of Justice? Blindfolded with a sword in one hand a a scale in the other? She doesn't bow to the whims of politics or the force of the mob. Justice is an ideal to be sure but one we should strive towards.

The ACLU, while not my favorite organization, is one that picks cases and issues that consistently speak to issues of justice, the rule of law and constitutional issues. Do I like every defendant they stand with? Nope. Do I like that they are here questioning, pushing and helping to define important legal issues? Yes...

You all would be well served to check out not just who the ACLU defended but why they did so and then look at how those decisions benefited you.

Yes...even you Nazi's.

I'm sure if the ACLU was around when the Nazi's were in power they would be representing them too.

Nice to see what side you are on by the way(as if I already didn't know)

Nobody thinks that he is a cure all.

If you've listened to his speeches, you would know that Obama does encourage us to do our best. He encourages us to help others in need and more.

Case in point. The ACLU went to bat for none other than Rush Limbaugh.

Thank god for that. Still I don't think our current president has done much of anything toward restoring our rights.

If you have ask then you are probably refusing to see all the losses we've suffered over the past years, it's been brought up in virtually every medium so you've had to have seen it. Still I'll point out some of the most notable ones like our right to privacy, free speech which was horribly compromised during Bush's administration. Not sure where we stand just yet one that with Obama.
